Dear Permies community,

You are all amazing, and I'm super grateful that we have these forums where we can talk about homesteading and permaculture, all the time.
A place to find likeminded people. A place to ask questions, help others and share our successes and failures. A place to learn!

Today I would like to mention the PIE, because buying PIE supports these forums.

One slice of PIE costs $3 and equals to a 1 month membership of Permaculture Inner-circle Elite.

That 1 month membership gives you access to a bunch of discounts and a pile of free goodies.
  • You can see some of the PIE only goodies and discounts here.
  • If you want to promote your business by giving out a PIE discount, click here.

  • PIE gives you options to customize your forum experience.
  • The most loved one of the features is probably the green line. "Show a green horizontal line to indicate how far you have previously viewed in a thread."
  • But wait, it gets even better! Automagically navigating to the last post you have viewed is also an option! That's my personal favourite.
  • Giving out thumbs up anonymously is an option with PIE.
  • You can also turn off adds if you like, or get rid of the woody background. Or hide the farmer logo if your boss doesn't like it.

  • Buying PIE also means you can give a gift of PIE and make a fellow Permie delighted!

To see all the neat features of PIE, click here. To buy PIE, or see your personal PIE balance, click here.

                       If you already have PIE,

Now that I have talked about PIE, I feel like hearing about pie.
I just made a ricotta and broccoli pie from home made ricotta cheese. Fun and delicious!

What are your favourite flavours for a savory pie?
    I'm going to offer a slice of PIE for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 8th and 13th post!

Yes, go ahead and list all your favourite savory pies in different posts..!

Edit: I'm still offering slices of PIE in the posts below!

PS. I just added a springy DVD combo dealio offer to the PIE forum!

I'd say the best savory pie is Sheppard's pie. There are so many fun ways to make it, but I could eat a whole dish of classic Sheppard's pie.

I make "all day breakfast pie" - sausage bacon and egg with a pastry crust! Sometimes it has layers of tomato and mushroom in too!

Along with the green line, I like the ability to see exactly when a post was made. I buy Pie on monthly subscription to try and make sure it never runs out.

Does quiche count as a savory pie? I think it should. I love quiche with a nice flaky crust, lots of cheese, bacon, and whichever leftover veggies I need to use up.

My favorite changes, often. Right now, I could REALLY go for fresh peach pie, with a Graham cracker crust, a light cheesecake layer, loads of fresh, juicy peaches, and a lovely dollop of fresh, homemade whipped cream... mmmmmm

Since I am not ably to give myself a slice of PIE, there are still two slices of PIE available. One slice for the next post (8th one from the original post) and one slice for the 6th post counting from this post.

Do we still have good ideas for pie flavours, or are all the good ones already mentioned? Sweet or savoury, I don't care!

This fall when I was in Scotland I had a wonderful seafood pie topped as a Shepherd's pie is with potatoes and cheese. It was wondeful and when I got home I made one which was also wondeful!! Hooray for pie!!

Last year I made a “keto friendly” blueberry pie.

    Crust: pecan flour and butter.

Filling: frozen blueberries and cream cheese.

    No bake. No sugar.

My mother liked it. My brother immediately griped that it needed sugar. “Add it to yours. Try some whipped cream on top.” He still complained but it wasn’t “for” him!

Strawberries work as well but if frozen they need to defrost some. Either berry gives a nice tint to the cream cheese.

My better half makes a homemade pumpkin pie using sugar pie pumpkins from our garden that I love.  It has a soft rich flavor and texture that let's you know that all is well at that moment in time.
A close second would be a steaming hot slice of shepherds ' pie made with vegetables from the garden and spices from the herb spiral.
There is something about using just picked produce that allows one to sit back and let the world go by for a while without one worrying about it.  Kind of reminds me of getting a dose of Permies.com when I've been listening to the news.

I think pie to be a perfect food group.
There are no more "hours", it's centi-days. They say it's better, but this tiny ad says it's stupid:
