I suggest that my salvage a small electric appliance for usable parts oddball submission be considered for its own BB. This allows someone to get points even if they find out the thing they were going to try to fix isn't fixable, for one. It is also a really handy cheap way to get used parts to repair items or for other projects. I don't think it matters if the item is AC or DC, but I do think there needs to be at least 1 part they salvage from it for it to count.
I'd suggest the badge requirements should be: post photos of beginning disassembly, mid disassembly, and salvaged part(s) that you deem worth keeping. Include some descriptions of what you're saving and their possible or intended use, how you are disposing of the other bits, and the tools you used (or photo of the tools?).
It occurs to me that as technology has advanced over the years, perhaps the physical size of the requirement maybe should be replaced by the capacity? Solar panels tend to be more efficient today, with higher power outputs than what appears to be 250 watt x 12 that was used in this project - would not any 3Kw mobile array meet this need, or must it be 40+ square feet?
(Edit: After re-reading the requirements, I realize that the "mobile" part is optional, but nice... The question still remains, should this be graded on its physical size, or on its electrical capacity - for the electrical BB?)
