One Green World from Portland Oregon, USA

I give this nursery 9 out of 10 acorns.

Family, friends and I have purchased numerous (more than 50) fruit trees and berry bushes from One Green World in recent years and have been very satisfied overall.  

The good:

Wide selection of fruit and nut trees, berry bushes, and other kinds of trees.  Lots of common fruits (apples, peaches, etc.) but also quite a few more obscure plants

Staff I have interacted with have been very knowledgeable about their products

Staff is familar with permaculture, food forest, and plant guild principles, and the company offers food forest design consultation

Fair prices

They won't sell/send you an item in poor condition.  If a plant is in bad shape, they will swap it for a better one, or give you an option to choose another variety, etc.

The not so good:

A few different times I have pre-ordered plants and they were not available when I went to pick them up.  Sometimes this appears to be inventory tracking issues, and other times they have had crop failures or underperformance.  Given the number of plants I have ordered, this would have been understandable once or twice, but it seems like an area for improvement.  

They can be difficult to get ahold of by phone

They are located in Portland and very knowledgeable about plants that do well in this climate (Western OR, WA).  They do ship plants all over the place but I am not sure how much they know about growing in other climates.  

Most fruit trees they sell are on semi-dwarf root stock (topping out around 15' high).  These trees are more vigorous than dwarf trees but not as vigorous as full size trees.  For folks in urban and suburban settings (with space limitations), I think semi-dwarf is a good compromise.  

We are in NC and were not as satisfied a customer.  We ordered several trees and one did not make it.  They did not seem to stand behind their product, and was more interested in finding fault with me.  Of course, nothing is perfect, but as a new customer, I guess I just expected better customer service.  They did not replace the tree.  I guess I have always felt that you find out what their mettle is when you have a not so good situation.  We have not reordered from them.

The original owner sold this business a couple of years ago. I know the original owner.

Our last purchase was in May of 2012.

Their events and fruit tastings are awesome.  I also give them 9 out of 10.  

My only negative is that the prices are on the high-side.  However that seems to be the case with most of the companies with a lot of variety.  Wonderful company overall.

That was not my experience. I have a food forest full of their plants.  I don't remember a single plant that wasn't healthy, and I ordered way over 20 of them.  I agree with the last post that they aren't rock bottom cheap.

Sheri is all the way in Carolina. That's a long trip for something to go wrong.

I give this nursery 8 out of 10 acorns.

After looking for seaberries for a long time I saw the Seaberry Bundle that they offer.  It was on sale for half off.  Their normal prices seem very high to me but the bundle made it affordable and it included one male with 5 different females.  No brainer.

They arrived last week and 3 of the six looked good, 2 were awesome and one was half alive.  The awesome two were much bigger so I'm guessing they were out of young stock and had to send larger plants (oh darn ).  

They're in the ground and we'll see how the weakling does.  If it dies quickly, I'll get a hold of One Green World and see what they want to do about it.  I may edit the acorn score if that happens.

I give this nursery 10 out of 10 acorns.

Onegreenworld's plants are top quality.
Most of the time they have stuff that no one else has.  They can be a bit higher.  But you get what you pay for.   In most cases rare/ uncommon plants and 100% of the time top quality items.

I've spent a few thousand on their plants over the past few years and have never been disappointed.

Hey Jay, if you want to give One Green World a review it would add more data to the seed and plant supplier review grid.  All you have to do is add another post to this thread and start it with the same words I used "I give this nursery X out of 10 acorns".  Then the software and moderators will get it added to the super awesome review grid.  Alternately you could edit the post you just made and add your rating sentence at the beginning.  Those magic words are what the software seeks out when updating the grid.

for my berry bushes i get mine at nourse farm in Mass. or indiana berry,In.., penseberry in AK have great prices and reasonable shipping with quality plants. I've got some plants from Onegreenworld and they were quality but i find way overpriced. also Double A vineyards and HoneyberryUSA are great vendors  as well.

Hi Steve, since you've tried so many vendors out, it would be awesome to get some "official" reviews from you.  Here's an existing thread on Honeyberry USA that you could post to with an acorn rating.  Then they'd get credited with a good review on the Seed and Plant Supplier Grid.  If you have any questions about it, let me know.  

If you're feeling extra ambitious, you can start a new thread for those other vendors to get them added to the Seed and Plant Supplier Review Grid.  There are directions at the bottom of the grid.

I don't know if you like apples but doing reviews using the correct "I give this nursery X out of 10 acorns" will often get apples thrown at you

Well, it lost all its leaves pretty quickly (its 5 friends are taking off).  I emailed OGW and they referred me to their policy stating that I needed to contact them within 10 days.  Their policy seemed to be more for breakage or shortages and suggested that TLC could fix many problems.  I guess the TLC has to work in 10 days or you're out of luck.  Apparently I should have contacted them sooner but it seemed a bit early if the plant still had a chance.  I'm not sure if I should lower my acorn score or not.  I'll leave it where it is for now, I guess...

i give them 8 out of 10 acorns. nice quality plants but heavy on price and shipping.
