A homesteader on another forum is in need of help, and it seems like the kind of situation Permies could help with. She gave me permission to share here, but where should I post that?

(Short version: she was recently injured and can't take care of her animals anymore.)

Some places that come to mind is the regional forum, and maybe volunteers?

Yes, you can totally ask here.

Could you tell us a bit more about the question?  It will help us know where the best place to ask is.

Does she want to give the animals away or hire someone to help her out?

Our daughter uses a pet sitting service similar to babysitters. Also veterinary offices off a boarding service for most animals.

We also have a forum for people to connect for jobs.

Our Experiences for has several subforums that might work for her:

https://permies.com/c/experiences

This is the Jobs Offered subforum:

https://permies.com/f/277/jobs-offered

Our critters forum might be a good place:

https://permies.com/c/critters

Then there are the Regional Forums:

https://permies.com/c/3

Maybe one of these might work for her.

(The original post was on the "Contact Us" thread, which is why it looks a little out of context. TY for giving it its own thread!)

The situation is a homesteader who has been working hard over the years to develop the perfect dairy herd of both sheep and goats. But she suffered a spinal injury and can't take care of them anymore. She's not even safe trying to walk to the barn unassisted!

I'm on a couple of Facebook groups, including one that focuses on dairy sheep. She posted there looking to re-home her entire herd. It sounds like she's trying to continue homesteading, but isn't strong enough to handle livestock right now. I floated the idea of Permies matching her with someone who could assist, and she gave me permission to share her post, but she kind of needs help fast.

She's located in Kit Carson County, Colorado. South of Burlington. If anyone is close enough and able to assist, I can pm you the link to her FB profile, so you can contact her there.

I really don't know anything more about her than what she posted. But I've dealt with back injuries enough that my heart broke at the idea of her having to lose her animals. So if there's anybody who could help, please let me know!

Have you posted in the sheep forum?  Or the appropriate regional forum?

Asking for this sort of help in the tinkering forum is a bit like asking for computer help at the grocery store.

I'm tired of walking, and will rest for a minute and grow some wheels. This is the promise of this tiny ad:
