I received a lot of chocolate covered almonds recently- they are roasted and covered with 50% chocolate-- I know 50% is not that dark but it is not milk chocolate, has a dark chocolate taste.
I took a long trip last month and ate far too many of them on planes, trains, and automabiles, and I don't realistically see myself eating another chocolate covered almond again in my life.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could use them to make something else? I have already donated two boxes of them, could donate the rest, but I'd like to find some use as they are at their use-by date and I don't want them to be just thrown away.
I do baking and could see or try and chop fine or so and make pastries. I know I could make almond choc. waffles, muffins, sweet breads,cookies etc. Then also make choc. almond smoothies, or a homemade version of hot almond choc. milk. Make your own trail mix with other bulk ingredients?
I'm not sure of the scale of the problem, but if you've got one of the new *really* powerful blenders, you could add a little extra oil and make chocolate/almond butter - like that hazelnut spread that's all sugar, only you wouldn't be adding any extra sugar, or at least very little.
I have a friend that did it, but when I tried it, my equipment wasn't powerful enough and it never went creamy.
It's a great idea, but my blender definitely is not up to the job! I have the Omega auger juicer but that will probably make crumbs, not butter. Still, crumbs could make cookies, so I may try the juicer anyway.

This was going to be my suggestion because I love chocolate and raisins. Not so much almonds, as I am not a big fan of almonds. I use a nutcracker to chop almonds in half. I will eat them then in trail mix.
Before I finally ate the last of the almonds, I was going to ask a similar question.
I thought about making almond bread in the bread machine as it might pulverize them.
