I was running fence through my woods and stumbled on this plant. It was bright red and the only one like it on my property.

Arisaema dracontium: I was thinking jack in the pulpit or mayapple... and my first guess was close. I found this illinois botaniser, a slightly less usual (or maybe just US native!) jack in the pulpit plant.

could also be the standard jack-in-the-pulpit, A. triphyllum.

I agree with Nancy. Pretty sure it’s Green Dragon - Arisaema dracontium. Similar to Jack in the pulpit (also known as brown dragon!) but that has three leaves.

Is this a dead nettle or a beefsteak it's a rescue plant and fall is here so need to know before it gets cold

I’m voting for Beefsteak - rounder leaves. When I saw this, I thought, that looks like Shiso / Perilla and then i discovered it’s te same plant!

Thanks for posting - I love the herb and didn’t think to grow it. I’ll add to my ever growing list.
