Has anyone else noticed extraordinary tree growth this summer

While mowing around my chestnut trees a few days ago I'm completely speechless as to some of the growth this summer, some trees have had 4 to5 foot of growth. Also incredible growth in wild black walnut and hickory trees, its not just the soft woods, conifers, boxwood and the like but the hardwood trees are growing like crazy this year. it is the rain, higher CO2 levels I'm not sure but it is truly incredible.

Where are you at? Many factors can play together: timely rain, warmth, CO2, sunlight, previous years drought killed off some vegetation for nutrient to be recycled, wildfire smoke, duststorm, volcano eruption etc all bring minerals around to have an effect.

Same here with my apple and pear trees this year, genuinely surprised when I measured some of the new growth. Suspect it's a combination of good rainfall at the right times and warm nights more than anything. Whatever it is I'll take it.

I was just gushing at my wife about the sheer amount of growth our peach trees have shown this year. I was figuring it was due to a frost that killed off most of the flower buds and needing to put the energy to something if not fruit production.

My elderberry plants grew 6ft this year after not budging for 2 years. Also, this random hymalayan blackberry that showed up in my food forest last year grew about 5-6ft this year. I don’t know if those two plants are known to grow like that though.

My elderberries have also grown a lot, this year, and provided a nice harvest for both me and the birds. My Rose of Sharons have spread (I went from the 2 I planted to at least half a dozen out there, now) grown at least 2ft, and flowers like crazy, this year, too.

My 4 figs are huge - I think they've each grown at least 2ft, past where they were, when they died back, in the winter, and one even has a couple tiny fruits, which I wasn't expecting until next year.

The peach tree and a squirrel apparently had a baby, and it's about 18" tall. It will have to be relocated, because 'mama' is far too close to the house as it is, and 'baby' is only about 3ft away from mama, and closer to the house, but I want to wait until it goes dormant (don't I?)

I bought 4 goji plants, in the early spring, and of the 3 that survived, they went from tiny, skinny 3" tall twigs to each having three 5ft long, leaf & spine-covered trailing vines(?) In hoping like crazy the 4 stunted little kiwi berry plants do as well! I'm also trying again with a couple hazelnuts - if they get here before they die in transit. (Some how, they went from KY to PA [?!?] to KS - on their way to central MO...🙄)
