I have a slightly different issue.  I'm in the group where their Kickstarter email is different than the one I have for permies.com.  When I followed the instructions to change it on permies.com, it said the one I was trying to change it to (my Kickstarter email address) is in use (which didn't sound right), and when I tried to use the lost password feature on that address, thinking maybe I'd accidentally created two different accounts, it says there's no account for that Kickstarter email.

What that obscure enough?  Let me try this:
My email used on Kickstarter was public@
My email to log into permies.com is public+permies@
They both have the same domain name.

For what it's worth, the plus sign and anything after it is supposed to be ignored by the smtp (email) protocol.  So they're effectively the same email address.  I just use it so I can filter incoming email and categorize it, (and know who's selling my email address.). However some software systems don't know about this quirk of the email protocol, and it makes them gak.

Also, don't know if this is an issue, but I had an account with Java Ranch back in the day, probably with the public@ email address.  Don't know if that could possibly be a problem unless you're using the same database.

No email received and didn't receive anything from the fine folks at Kickstarter.  Checked my junk and nothing there either.  Checked the card that I used and I see $250 to Kickstarter.  I've had a Permies account for a while and no change to the email.

Please advise - I am excited to absorb the presentations and thanks for infecting brains!

Your email address was in the first test group.   I sent emails to 17 people and there was one bounce.   The email address you have on kickstarter has the domain "sbcglolal.net" which, apparently, doesn't exist.

I just now added the email address you have here at permies which has one character that is different.

Is it working now?

Most recent changes worked and gave me access to everything. The only thing not working for me is the video, no clock for me, just a black screen that refreshes. I might just be late to the game though and now it's turned off. Is this the case?

I've gotten no farther than the email for this page. I find nothing else .. and of course I know it'll all work out. I'm in awe of what it must take to coordinate all this all at once and be so mellow and methodical moving forward. Kudos!
My part is to watch the show, appreciate ... oh and part with some dosh to keep the show running and expanding.

Trying to sort this out because you mentioned it in another thread.

We got a software update this morning that allows each account to have multiple email addresses.  Thus making things better/simpler for most folks.

We have added a lot of features to our software lately.  And I think that your email choices combined with some of these new features may be introducing us to things that need mending.

I think your other account is just for receiving the dailyish email.  Further, it looks like you elected to close that account.

I take it that you would like to be able to access your content with this account and you don't care if the other account goes away?  If so, I think I will need to involve our developer to try and fix this.

At the behest of the overall giant (aka Paul) I'm posting that I cannot see the streaming video. I get a black box. If I click on the black box I can see the pause button so it thinks it's playing but I'm not getting video.

I have a screenshot, but no good place to upload it so I can link to it.

Is the black box asking for money via paypal?

I'll have to figure out someplace to upload the image because the only option showing for inserting an image requires a URL. My OS is Android marshmallow and my browser is Google Chrome.

Don't click the [Img] button. Just click the "Attachments" tab which appears beneath the text box where you type in the post.

If you are on the mobile view, scroll down below the text box until you find a dark brown area called "Attachments" where you could upload a picture.

The wifi indicator on that screenshot shows your wifi connection is a weak. I'm not sure if that's the cause, but maybe if you keep that page open for a little while, the video would eventually start.

I changed the email address on the account you closed to something freaky.

I am now going to re-add you to the premium content.  You should get an email about it and then be able to merge it to the account you are using in this thread.

So when you go to this thread:  https://permies.com/wiki/65389 --- do you see the live screen?  Or do you see a black box asking you to pay with paypal?

Back from dinner just had an awesome venison curry.

Apparently they upgraded my internet connection as I'm getting 6 Meg down and last I knew we only had 3 Meg. I do have a laptop it's just not my everyday carry. Since I work fairly far from home if I was going to get on I'd need to do it at the library after work because the commute takes so long. I'll dig it out and fire it up.

I'm looking at the live feed right now... https://permies.com/wiki/65389/paul-wheaton/digital-market/PDC-ATC-video-hours-live
And I don't see the ticking clock others refer to.
I do see what looks like a large screen mounted on a wood wall. Is this what I should see?

Ok, cancel question, I confirmed it works.
For anyone else wondering the same thing, here's the easy test...
1. Open a browser to the live feed (link above)
2. Open another browser to the chat window (see link in the first message of the live feed thread)
3. Login to the chat as guest and enter your name when requested
4. Post a chat message (and you may want to note the exact time when you do this)
5. Switch to the live feed window and maximize it so it's easily seen, then watch until your chat message appears. Be patient. Mine took 45 seconds, almost exactly.

Yeah, we replaced the clock with the "jumbotron".  So that's the chat thing where everybody can type.

I'm on my laptop, Windows 10 with Google Chrome. It's working. Delay is about 33 seconds for me by the way. I'll try FireFox and Microsoft Edge as long as I'm on.
