Clean and Oil a Stationary Power Tool - PEP BB tool.straw.cleaning

...that's the late 20's version of me.   ...gee, I been doin' this stuff for a while.   I'm glad to have found you guys!


I inherited my dad's old sear's craftsman table saw, and it didn't work then.   Sooo, I felt I had nothing to lose to take it completely apart, clean it, and see if I can get it to do more than BZZZZZZ.  

Turns out that it did need a part, to give the motor a boost during starting (extra load then).  I figured out that I can get by without that part by wrapping a bicycle inner tube around the shaft of the motor to give it a pull start while simultaneously flipping the power switch.    In this video, I hadn't figured out using the inner tube part yet!

plus, I broke several safety rules that the woodworking pro types were happy to educate me about.

but the saw worked, and I used it a bunch before it met its demise in a mindless transportation moment.    learning point for anyone reading here:   "always strap your sh-tuff down tight"   ...I learned hard way loosing that saw on the hwy,  lucky and blessed no damage to anyone else,   ...no trip is short enough to not strap down.     ...especially for  a top heavy antique tablesaw ...grrrr, bad James.

You may claim old work for BBs. For this badge bit, did you get a shot of yourself oiling the table saw?

That 1st picture with the motor disassembled is the closest to a "b4" picture that I have.  That thing was encased in cobwebs and saw dust, but I had already cleaned/disassembled it before starting the video.  I'm ok to try again, plenty of tools around that need oiling.   I'll get better "b4" and action pictures and post again.

...sharing this video better.   Most of the video is using the saw after I put everything back together tho.

I cleaned, oiled, and repositioned the guides for better alignment on my band saw. I used a shop vac, rubbing alcohol, and high performance grease. It runs nice and smooth now.

Clean and oil one of the following tools:
 - chop saw
 - table saw
 - power planer / joiner
 - band saw
 - bench grinder
 - drill press
 - sawmill

To get certified for this BB, post three pics:

  - pic of tool before cleaning and oiling
  - pic of tool while cleaning
  - pic of tool after cleaning and oiling

My planer was making bad noises and sending sparks flying so I needed to take it apart anyway.  Turns out it was a broken pulley so I fixed that, cleaned, oiled and reassembled it.
