This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Plumbing.

In this Badge Bit, you will install or replace a frost free spigot.  If you live in an area that freezes, installing frost free spigots the exterior of your house gives you some peace of mind by keeping the water well away from the exterior envelope of the house.

Here's a video of a guy doing it:

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
- install or replace a frost free spigot
- repairing a spigot is a different BB

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, provide proof of the following as pics or video (less than two minutes):
   - the current spigot or location you'll put one
   - midway through the job
   - the installed spigot

I got to do this job the other day.  For some strange reason the previous frost free spigot stopped working.  This was the first time it was attempted to be turned on this year.  The knob just turned and turned (the screw was turning with the knob).  Menards replaced it for free even though it was two years old (Yay!).

Most of the work involved getting access on the interior of the house.  Of course it was behind the washing machine.  And some wood siding...  In the process I came up with a new trick.  I had to put pipe dope on the threads and then shove it through the wall and styrofoam but I didn't want to ruin the pipe dope.  So I put a little condom made from the corner of a sandwich bag and that protected it during the insertion.  There are probably better ways to do it but it worked!
