The world is a very interesting place right now. We have a nice space for everyone to discuss positive permaculture solutions and experiments.

We have the cider press for interesting topics that tend to become divisive if not downright incendiary.

I said this elsewhere, but I'll say it again here

REMINDER:

The cider press is a privilege and a reward!

It is NOT a punishment.
We are NOT punishing people for talking about specific topics.

We are rewarding people who have proven they can be nice, by giving them somewhere to talk about these topics where other people who are also nice can share in the conversation.

A lot of stuff has been removed from the site today for being cider press topics outside the cider press.  And a few people got a chance to improve their post to not have cider press stuff in it.

The theme - they all are problem-focused posts that want to complain about bad guys.

Permies is about solutions and doing things.  We have the cider press if you want to talk about toxic whatever or political messy stuff.

So I'm giving this thread a gentle bump in case you noticed your poetry vanished - here's why.

I honestly love the cider press.
I sometimes get ideas or opinions stuck in my head, or I read something that I want to express my opinion about. There are just sometimes things that needs to be written down and shared. That’s what I use the cider press for. It’s such a relief having a place to discuss philosophy, religion, spirituality and things like that, knowing that you can do it without being trolled.
I love it’s a place where even hot headed discussions on politics, vaccines and all that stuff, are debated in a civilized manner. I haven’t found that anywhere else. In fact, this friendly compassionate helpful community is what I find is unique to permies.
I still do Facebook, but I find that I am spending more time here, than on the regular social media. It might be because I find more likeminded people here, but I think that the most important reason simply is the healthy environment we have here.
I am grateful and impressed by you all, for keeping it this way. So a big high five and thank you for that.  What you have build here, is something the other platforms want, but hasn’t been able to achieve. So congratulations for being better too.
I will continue to read, post and help, and know that if my heads full of something, that doesn’t fit anywhere else here. There are always the cider press.

Just a reminder that the volunteer moderators work very quickly and will often remove hate and other anger before regular users see them.   Well done team.

My favourite line from a conversation about permies, moderation, toxins, and trolls:

Thus the cider press was born.  To reward those who have proven they aren't evil.

Bumping as a reminder - cider press is the place to post, if you must discuss stuff that isn't organic or better.

With events going on around the world, many discussions kick up about hot button topics.

Please remember to post to the cider press for these conversations.

Being angry at bad guys
More anger
How to defeat bad guys
Complaining about bad guys

This sort of post belongs in the cider press.

Solution focused
Trying nifty things
Making the world better place

That's the sort of thing we like to see on the main forums

Wow!  We created the cider press ten years ago!  I gotta say that this has turned out to be one of the smartest things we have come up with!

Ten years old and it is working better than I ever expected!

It's great that we have a safe place to talk about some of the more contentious issues like politics, religion and toxic gick, thank you Paul for making the cider press!

Looks like we need another reminder.

Hot button topics attract trolls - lets keep them off the main forums thanks!

When you have enough apples to prove you can be nice (at least on occasion ), and contribute to the site by buying (or are given) pie , you can discuss topics like toxic gick, religion, and other 'hot button' subjects in the cider press.

You might find the answer you are looking for there already if you look.

Dealing with stuff like crop overspray, gick residue in soil and materials?.....sounds like cider press to me.

Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. But if you read my tiny ad, I might change my mind.
