I think it might have been mentioned here, or maybe another thread. But, you're not alone in this desire! But, if you hover your mouse over the "2 weeks ago" you can see the actual date and time (same thing as hovering over a person's name and seeing when they joined). I'd perfer to do away entirely with the "2 weeks ago" thing, but there is thankfully a way to see the actual date and time!

I hope that helps!

Oh Nicole, thank you! That is very helpful indeed. Whew. It doesn't happen often but sometimes it really feels important to know when. So thanks again.

I think there might a pie feature ... yup, found it .... there is a pie feature for this where you can tell the software what your time zone is and it will show everything in a date and time for your time zone.

Susan, I gave you a piece of pie so you can try out changing the settings as Paul explains (there are several other fun changes you can make with pie also)...

I think this software originally had avatar support. I think it was one of the features that the coderanch staff stripped out first. I think a lot of the developers at coderanch don't like avatars. And I agree - I'm not a big avatar fan either.

Thanks for the pie, Judith. I will go give it a try.

About the "… hours ago" feature:

Why not add the timestamp behind it?

Oh and another: I first wrote

to highlight the CSS, pushed the submit button, and following warning appeared:

It looks like this post contains code.

Did you know you can highlight the code and click on the "code" button to add line numbers and make the code easier to read?

Click ok to submit anyway and cancel to add the tags.

(there is no code button. The [ code ] feature works however.)

Another thing is:

I accept that you ( Paul ) might not like Avatars and that and the developers might find them a bind but I wonder if someone might buy pie for one ?

I wish there was a "Cancel" button beside the "Preview Submit" buttons for when you post.    So if you start to post but cannot due to life interruptions or you decide against it.   The only way I see to do that now is by closing the website.

If you decide you don't like or can't finish a post your are submitting use the back arrow on your browser. That will put you back into the original topic thread without posting whatever you started to type.

I am at work and was browsing around (bad toad!) without logging in, which of course automatically puts me in the new view.  I noticed that the links to "similar threads" at the bottom of the page didn't work.  I logged in and refreshed the pages, which put them into the old view, and the links work fine.  Changed to new view and refreshed, the links once again don't work, so methinks there is a problem...
