greenhouse kickstarter support forum

Last year was the first year we tried a private forum for support.  It worked so well, we are doing it again this year.

About 90% of our support from the past was somebody saying that they don't have access to the digital content.  The problems included:

   - not being logged in
   - using an email on permies that is different from kickstarter
 
It was taking us a very long time to sort these two problems out because people don't say "i am not logged in" or "my email is different".  They say "it isn't working."  And then we have to do a lot of stuff to figure out why it isn't working.  

So now, if they can post to the private forum, they have all that working and everything just works.   90% of all support is eliminated.  

Added bonus:

   - people an see the issues that other people are having, and the solutions for those problems. So often times your problem is solved in just a few seconds.

   - there's a LOT of super helpful people on permies that are glad to help with all sorts of things.  So questions are often answered about ten times faster.

   - a nice private place to visit with other backers!

If you supported the kickstarter, you should have access to this forum - but only when you are logged in with your kickstarter email address!

Contributor 1444 here. Paid last night but I have "insufficient permissions" to view the forum.

Just having a problem with the access to the forum, it says that I don’t have the permissions to get in.

Payment was processed, signed up with the same email that I did the Kickstarter and I’m logged in...

BYW, I was in IT for over 15 years so I know stuff often doesn’t work when it should!

To get access to the private forum, you all should have received an email from permies with instructions.  Did you get the email?

Set up account with same email address as I contributed to on Kickstarter.

 -No other email from Permies other than the last update #17

The link did not work when I first opened the email and I got the 'not sufficient privileges' notice...later it worked just fine

2. Did you get an email inviting you to the private forum?  I suspect they would have sent it out to the email you used for Kickstarter.

I got my invite email.

The subject line is:

I did get the invitation, assuming that was Update 17. I'm using the same email for Kickstarter as for the forum. I did have to sign up for the forum after I got the invitation.

Anything else I can try?

That is the offiial invitation to that forum.  The reason why that is so important is that if your kickstarter email address is not found on permies, then it sends you a slightly different email - with instructions on a couple of ways to mend the issue, including adding your kickstarter email address to your already existing permies account.

I see you as not having access to the forum.  Do you know if your payment may have been processed after 6pm yesterday for some reason?

I am using an email on permies that is different from kickstarter... So I have the same problem.

Mine isn't' working either.  Same email address.  I went to my bank to make sure the payment processed and it is listed as "pending".  Could that be why I don't have access?

yeah, me too. i also used a different email on kickstarter than on permies, and haven't gotten the email. i just checked my bank account and the transaction is there, dated 7/27 and 'pending'. i'm guessing some of us may need to wait the weekend out because of bank stuff on our end...

That’s probably why, I signed up for Permies after getting the Update 17 email. So I might have to wait a bit for the system to see me? Or do you have to do it manually?

I  received e-mail which looks exactly like in post from r rsaon above. And I received on the other e-mail, update # 17 e-mail with instructions.   I have access to forum with my primary e-mail, and my secondary e-mail is the kickstarter e-mail.
Now when  I read this post again and I realize the last sentence.  I should log in with kickstarter e-mail address.  Sorry

New here!  Backed the kickstarter and my money got collected.  Got backer email#17, followed link to Permies, and registered same email as I use for kickstarter (I am new), then followed link to private forum and got “insufficient privileges”.  Checked email inbox and junk folder for private forum invite email separate from #17 and nada.  Please advise!

I don't know if this is still an issue, but maybe clear your browser history and stuff then try again.  Could someone try this and let us know if it makes a difference?  

Nicole will be adding some more people later today.  Perhaps that will fix everything.

I pledged the Glory level to access some seemingly great information as I have followed this website for a while now to get a feel of it.  I went to access the goats book as that was part of Glory, cannot access.
Went to #17 link, denied...then realized, of course, I changed emails, so went in here & set up account using new email.  Logged out, logged back to Kickstarter, tried link again, still I do not have permission.
Note: To either email address I did not receive a private invitation unless Kickstarter link is it.
Looking forward to kinks out... :)

Kickstarter is not a store, but a site to get businesses off the ground.   I think we have until May or June of 2021 to deliver most stuff.   But there are a lot of things I hope we have delivered by the end of this year.   And I hope that we have the goat book sent out to those getting it within the next month.

As is, Kickstarter is still working out the payment stuff with a lot of people.  So they don't tell us who paid until two weeks after the kickstarter is over.  So it makes sense that we would not start delivering anything until that time.  Although, in the past, we tend to start giving stuff away a little early ....  :)

Thank You Paul for clarification of process, makes sense as Patience is a virtue comes to play here  :)

I did not receive the email, but created a new Permies with the same email account I us for Kickstarter, and am now waiting to see it that will result in access, which is not the case on account creation.
