Dunno if everyone has this problem, but on topics with multiple pages where the pages are posted as links......every link takes me to the first page,
once on the page I can use the page links top and bottom to skip to the end,
But the links in the subject header on the main forums page...no matter which page is chosen...all lead to the first page of the subject.

Firefox on Debian 10.7, Ubuntu 18, And Mint 19.3 all exhibit the same behavior.

I'm not sure I completely understand.

But... you do have PIE.  Which means you can go to "my profile" and choose different options.  I think I have mine set to jump to the first unread post in the thread.

Is that what you're asking?

I think Bill is talking about the fact that threads that have multiple pages take you to the first page of the thread, no matter which page number you click on.  I made a post about it awhile ago, it seems it is a known problem.  I'm attaching a picture to make it more clear.  If you look at the top thread, it has 40 pages total.  If you click on the "40", rather than taking you to the last page, it takes you to the first page.

I just clicked on the 40 for that thread (back from the main page) and it took me to the middle of page 30...?  Then I back buttoned and tried again twice and both times it took me to page #1.

Hmmm... I don't have that problem.  When I click on the page number, it takes me to that page.  But, I don't use "default view" or "recent topics" to view the main page.  So it could be something in that.

But, this might help.

Go to "my profile"
Pie Only Preferences

Then check
- Keep track of threads read on a thread by thread basis
- Show, in a thread, how far you have viewed in the past
- Navigate to the last post you have viewed

See if that helps

Hint, you need PIE to make it work.

Because I have it set to " Navigate to the last post you have viewed", if I haven't read that thread, it takes me to the last post I have read instead of to a specific page number.  But if there aren't unread posts for me in that thread, it takes me to the correct page number.

Basically, I can't seem to reproduce the issue, so I can't give step-by-step details to the people that make it better.

If we can find out how to reproduce the problem, then we can pass it on to the people with the magic.

It occurs to me a lot!
Mostly because so many threads are "recycled", when I see a topic with 200+ answers I know its been on site for years!
Its not that I'm uninterested in the previous years highlights and wisdom du-jour but I assume if its on the first page of the forum than someone has a recent point of view....in an effort to be germane to the discussion at hand I'd like to see the current focal point....and then if its something I think I can add to, or a topic that is fascinating, I go back and review the history.
But.....Some people write a Tome every time they sit to a keyboard, and wading through the history can consume an inordinate amount of time. the ability to skip to the final post and back up a page (if needed) to get the gist of the discussion would reduce (what to me is an Eternity!) of page load time, just to find it has been "bumped" for no reason other than (possibly) engendering discussion, and there are no current opinions / questions.

Ok, I changed those settings the other day and it gives me that green line thingie I've heard so much about.  No chance to test it until just now when I clicked on the last page of the Corona Virus Memes thread and it took me to the first page.  Just tried it again and it repeated the error.  Third time and it took me to the last page.  One of those first two clicks may have been on the page next to the last poster's name instead of the last page number.  Shouldn't've mattered either way but I put an arrow next to the two places I think I clicked to get the error.
