The "Mark all topics as read" link, at the bottom right of the "Recent and Top Forums" view, does not actually mark any topics as read for me.

It may only be broken when used in conjunction with the "Keep track of threads read on a thread by thread basis" setting, which is when it is most useful.

It's never too late to start gardening, and even the smallest project is worthwhile.

Trying to reproduce the problem.

Before clicking the link, there are several threads i have not yet read.   I see the yellow folders.

I clicked the link and now none of the folders are yellow.  

So it seems to have worked.  

Can you share more details on how it does not work?

I can see that the lightbulbs (for the forum categories) as well as the folders (for threads) are yellow/unread. I click the "Mark all topics as read", my browser sends a POST request to https://permies.com/forums/forums/readAll, and it returns a 302 Found with no response data.

After doing so, the lightbulbs and folders remain yellow/unread on the "Most recent topics as table" view, the "Recent and Top Forums" view, and the "Default view".

It's never too late to start gardening, and even the smallest project is worthwhile.

While I don't see anything that looks like lightbulbs, I switched to the default view on https://permies.com/forums then clicked the change view button. Then scrolled to the bottom and clicked the link 'mark all topics as read' which points to https://permies.com/forums?dashboardView=-99#

The page reloads to https://permies.com/forums with 'most recent topics as table' set in the upper right, and the folder icons for each thread still show some as read and others as unread. This is running Chrome.

I found the lightbulbs by setting the view to "recent and top forums".

Gonna ask devaka to take a look ....

It does seem to work on individual forums, but fails on the homepage / recent topics.

I and changed my view to "recent and top forums" like the OP said he had, and found the button "mark all topics as read", I clicked on it, and after a few second it kicked me out of that screen and back into my default view, which is "with bookmarks".

I am running Chrome on an old Dell desktop, if that makes a difference.

I see the recent topics list also refreshes the folder icon after I visit a thread and then refresh the list, sweet!

It seemed like this suddenly stopped working for me - I'll keep an eye on it over the next few days and see if it's just a temporary issue.

I just gave it a go and all the unread thread switched to read for me, yellow bulbs turned white and in another view the folder icons also changed to the read format.
