Ha ha - saw the image before hitting play and thought, peg!

Looks pretty bespoke and probably made by a blacksmith 50 years ago. I was thinking you could use it for making kindling and shortening fingers . . .

Very cool! I want one. Like a giant paper cutter for wood. Probably custom built by a blacksmith. Much safer than swinging a machete or hatchet!

I wonder if a blade from a hand plane or spokeshave could be bolted to a 1x4 to get the same effect.

It's called a block knife. If you look at the way wooden shoes are made those typically have a bit longer blade but it looks very versatile. Reminds me of a tobacco cutter or cheeese wheel cutter. You can see where in the block knife picture a draw knife could easily be modified. The addition of a curved blade just multiplies its usefulness.

Thanks Micheal, something deeply comforting about watching a British bloke work in his shed. A real craftsman and refreshing absence of power tools.

This one is making a cloggers knife, with interesting variations in how it is installed and used.

Interesting bloke - I enjoy watching his videos. He has a forge, makes a lot of his own tools, built a cabin in the woods days from the nearest road, built a water wheel, canoe, pond . . . Long list. And plants lots of trees. I think he would have earned a few Iron Badges by now.

I like the dual pivot mount option on his version. A bodger in the woods would find that helpful.

Ew. You guys are ugly with a capital UG. Here, maybe this tiny ad can help:
