Being single used to be hard on New Year's Eve.  Seems with COVID, there are not many parties or bars or much of anything anymore.  I'll be watching the Thin Man, cooking something tasty... probably oysters Rockefeller since I found an old recipe that looks good and it is oyster season... and sipping adult beverages while celebrating the 13th anniversary of finding my little dog, Buddy.  What is everyone doing?

Sharing a simple dinner with a close friend, "solving the world’s problems" with our conversations, being thankful for a gentle quiet evening, then going home to a peaceful night’s sleep. At least, that is what I have planned. I hope it turns out that way. If so, I shall be grateful.

Snuggling with my best girl and making scallops with truffle sauce.  A Savoie white to pour.  Do I sense a theme - dogs and seafood?

Have fun.... I have given up on the world's problems.... I have all the answers, but no one does what I tell them to do!  Your evening sounds very nice.

Maybe - my dog LOVES seafood!  He would fight me for fish or shrimp!

I usually go to bed early as a load of inconsiderate people like to let off fireworks at midnight and wake me up.   I am not a night owl and have always found it difficult to stay awake until midnight just for the sake of it.  I did stay up a few years ago and watched (on TV) Queen playing with Adam Lambert which was amazing.  Hard to top that really.

A few friends and family are coming over to the farm.  Lots of teens will be here.  We are pulling kraut out of the crock and throwing some pork in.  My son put in 1000 quail eggs to hatch.  They are already hatching and probably will go through tomorrow.

Well.... few more hours to go.
I'm staying home with my tiny family and our 4 legged creatures, watching/listening rock music on YT. My friend is coming over. We'll be sampling some finger foods we made, home made pizza, have fun enjoying our company.
And looking through catalog of seeds that came in the mail. Yaaaaay!!!  Happy New year to all. Cheers

Spending the evening at home.  Fireplace is inviting. Fixed oyster stew …mostly because we haven’t had any for years.   Watching old British mysteries on TV ….. Cracker.

Party pooper …. I ended up going to be around 9:00.

Nothing. My favorite thing to do on new years!

Perhaps fall asleep before midnight...

The 6pm fireworks got canceled here in the comparative metropolis of Iqaluit,  pop has risen from 7400 to 9400 in 2 years.
Strong arctic winds -- too dangerous for fireworks perhaps or just freeze their hands off not sure 😆

It will be going down to -17 F tonight

The sun mozeys along the horizon for 4 1/2 hours starting at 9:30 tomorrow

Vertical windows ARE the right angle for the sun in winter!

Ra, ... that's a 20% increase!  What is drawing all of those new residents?  Are they mostly Canadian nationals?  Always wanted to visit that region....but only in summer.   We get -20 F often enough, it's the 4 hr of daylight I would have a hard time with.
