So far, it isn't terrible, but unpleasant. Stuffy nose, sore throat, pretty bad headache.

Best of luck with it, and make sure you take it easy. I was mostly headachey and had heavy fatigue for about a week. Allow yourself to sleep and recover. Stock up on lemsip!

As far as I know, we can't get lemsip here.

They say Theraflu is similar (it's acetaminophen plus a decongestant/expectorant)-- but according to my British friends Lemsip is delectable....

My husband tested positive recently, with sore throat, body aches, nasal snork for a few days. (VERY different from when we had it the first go-round)

He had lots of ginger tea (just grated ginger in hot water with honey and lemon), an occasional decongestant, salt water gargle when necessary, and lots of jello, popsicles, etc (it's been 90+ degrees here).
Feel better soon! (what a way to start the New Year! O-o)

That all sounds good to me, thanks.

"Nasal snork" is now my favorite word for that symptom.

Hi, The earlier a person treats the virus, the better the outcome. I have seen many people start early treatment with therapeutics and only get mild flu symptoms.

Good luck and God bless you.

Look after yourself and wishing you a speedy recovery.

Do you have any lactofermented garlic or whole garlic cloves steeped on raw honey? Both are delicious to munch on and reputedly antiviral.

Not that I need any excuse to eat garlic any which way. If you don’t have any fermented garlic, just crush some fresh cloves, mix with honey and eat it.

Garlic’s my go to whenever I have feel the first signs of the flu or a cough coming on.

Take care.

Snot. Sorry to hear that.

Have you considered whether you should try to contact Trace it?

At least you are undeniably starting 2022 on a positive note...

Hope it is mild and short.

Most people get "mild" symptoms. Likely nothing to do with any treatment, as there isn't really anything commonly available that does anything but mask symptoms (eg paracetamol) to make people feel more comfortable while they heal.

I like Tereza's and Megan's suggestions. I would be very hesitant to take  any OTC drugs, as I still haven't seen any research to indicate they may not cause issues with this new virus. I know one of the most recent theories about the unusual nature of the 1918 pandemic is that the boom in the aspirin market happened just before as Bayer's patent had expired. We know acetaminophen(paracetamol) is one of the most dangerous drugs known, as an approved safe dosage is not far from a dangerous dosage. It seems covid has an ability to cause damage to organs, just like these drugs. I'm very suspicious of combining the two, as I wonder if they could react very negatively when combined.

Thanks all for the ideas.  Megan, you reminded me to get some garlic soaking :)

I'm feeling really well now.  My symptoms were never too bad.  I had a pretty bad headache on and off for about three days and a couple nights my throat was so sore I couldn't swallow, and it kept me awake all night, but that was about it.  Otherwise, typical cold symptoms, stuffy nose, cough and the like.  I'm about 85% right now and I think after another nights sleep, I'll be very close to over this.

Again, thanks all for your posts.
