Greetings!
I'm just north-east of Houston, Zone 8, where the terrible heat of summer is showing signs of surrender to fall rains.
I pulled up my roots from this land, metaphorically speaking, in the Spring when the house was put on the market, but as deal after deal falls through and another season passes, I fear my roots will soon rot if I don't get back into the ground. The house MAY sell any day, but I can't keep living like I won't be here tomorrow.
So, I'm starting new garden beds. I have renewed last years beds with compost, but I also want to start at least one brand new hugelbed for this Badge Bit:

The Badge Bit specifies several required species, off which I have already acquired the Sepp Holzer grains, but I have some leeway in choosing other plants.
What could I find that would do well in my climate and tolerate, if not prefer, fall planting? Thank you very much for helping an inexperienced gardener out!
