This is something I used to do in the late 80’s. I would get a short list of names of nursing home patients who had a history of having no visitors or phone calls ….then I would call and chat with them once a week. There are confidentiality issue to work around, but that can be done. I found it rewarding, and it boosted their morale. For reasons I can’t remember I stopped. I need to get back into the practice.
If you have a phone and a few extra minutes in your week, it might be worth doing.
