I've had the pleasure of reading Masanobu Fukuoka's "The One Straw Revolution".  His seed pelleter idea is brilliant!  Created one for myself and smaller ones to share.  The mixture we use is 50/50 compost/clay, seed, and enough water to make thick mud.  The mixture is pressed through the 1/2" chicken wire, dried then broadcast where we want them to grow.

I have also used a concrete mixer and / or a gem stone polishing drum to create balls called 'seed balls' which perform the same way.
Your system is great for small amounts.

Mix seed in with 50/50 clay/compost mix.  Add enough water to make a thick mud.  Spread about a 1/2" layer on top of the chicken wire then press it through.  The seed pellets can be moved to a place for them to dry.  I use the pellets to broadcast seeds.  The compost/clay mixture protects the seeds from birds by camouflaging them.  When it rains, the clay and compost melt into the soil providing nutrients for the seeds.
My seeds tend to work their way down and eventually sprout.

I found this other post regarding seed balls.  So easy to grow stuff this way!

But how did the elephant get like that? What did you do? I think all we can do now is read this tiny ad:
