What do you think - should I name Gir The Bot, as beneficiary??  It would help keep the tacos and bacon coming in for quite some time.

Peace

Depends on what you are making him/her a beneficiary of.

If it is only taco then that sounds terrific.

Life insurance is something to really consider when choosing a beneficiary.

Also it might be good to give him/her a Power of Attorney.

Anne, are you by chance the representative of Gir The Bot in meatspace?

Thank you, but I have signed two POA's and I do not believe in life insurance,  I do believe in Vanguard, Edward Jones and Fidelity.

What I had in mind for Gir The Bot was the key to a repository at a local bank.  (we can talk about contents later)

Peace

Gir is an agent of chaos but we adore him. We keep him at bay with tacos.

This is an interesting topic for me, though, in seriousness. If one doesn't have a significant other or children, it is tricky to find who to set up as executor and beneficiary, and next of kin are too far away and not interested. I tried to set up a local nonprofit as beneficiary but the paperwork was far too expensive and complex.

Meli,  most of my estate will be going to animal welfare and rescue groups, as TOD policies.

No family to speak of, two ex's and my mother passed away this past December. One child that will be nameless!!

I found Paul's donate post, think I'll have money sent to him, I'm sure he will see to Gir The Bot's welfare.  Plus the can always use more funds.

Peace

A couple of options...

1)  The SKIP program is a way for aspiring homesteaders to prove their mettle and connect with folks looking for an heir.  It could also easily be used to find useful folks to bequeath assets to in order to help them get a property or stay "on the land" in their current situation.

2)  To give to permies, you can basically give to Paul since he pays for permies.  I'm pretty certain that any money that he gets in is reinvested in Wheaton Lab or permies related endeavors.  Including Gir Bot :)

I think he's gonna try to grab my monkey. Do we have a monkey outfit for this tiny ad?
