Permaculture Voices Airport Car Share: post your dates/times/place here!

There are many of us flying into southern California for the Permaculture Voices conference. The more we can pool resources to get from the various airports (Los Angeles, Ontario, San Diego) to the Temecula area (and the big permies.com house in Fallbrook, just south of Temecula) the better!

There's even going to be a 15 passenger van in the area driven by a friend of Paul, so if we can figure out travel times we can avoid renting a whole bunch of cars we don't need. This is doubly true for the 20 of us staying at the big house, because ONLY 6 cars can park at the house.

I'll start. I am flying in to Ontario, arriving at 10:35pm on Wednesday the 12th of March. I don't think I've heard of anybody else flying in to Ontario, but if you are, please let me know and we can maybe share a ride. I have to fly out of Ontario on Monday the 17th of March at 9:30am.

So, when do you arrive and where?

two of us are arriving into LAX 10:50am Mar 12th and staying at the permies house.We have not made arrangement to rent a car yet,

we leave Mar 18th 1:55pm we have a day trip and tour planned to see the cal-earth site on the 17th and anyone interested to join us is welcome, we may rent a car for this day trip and return to LAX

I'm flying into Ontario on the 12th around 6p; I have a car booked.

I'm flying into LAX Wednesday morning, staying at Airport till 4PM or so (to await passengers)
And returning to LAX on Monday before 10AM

I rented a car, and MAY have one seat available. At this point would prefer a small(er) person with little luggage,
because it is a 5 seater and not sure how full the luggage is going to put us.

But we'll figure it out.

I am staying in the Permies house, so will be occupying one of those parking spaces.

Can I propose something at this point...
I requested it from my passengers, and felt a little like a bully, but I hope they didn't mind,

But I will propose it and let people chime in,

Anyone hitching a ride with someone that did the renting of the rental vehicle, should plan to pitch in a minimum of $20(each way) for the rides to and from the airport.

I am asking for $30 from my passengers.

That will help cover gas and rental fees.

Any one else have thoughts on that?
I know there are extremely generous folks out there that may not request a 'tip', but I suggest that if you are catching a ride with them you should 'tip' them anyway!

(For those staying in the Permies house, rides to and from the conference site, shopping errands etc will be ride share / free. )

Two of us who are staying in the big group house will arrive in San Diego on 3/12 at 10:28 am. One of us departs on the 17th, late evening. The other will depart from SFO a week later.

I'm coming into john Wayne in Santa Ana in early afternoon on the 11th. I plan to either hang around til an existing ride leaves wednesday night, or take the bus and LRT-12 bucks and several hours. Is anyone passing this way Tuesday afternoon? Headed to lake skinner.

That makes three arriving in SD prior to 1:30 pm.

Hello...does anyone have lax shuttle info to temecula they could share...I am arriving Thursday morning so I am guessing permie carpool options wont be available....would be much more fun though.
So if there is Any info you can share on public transport to temecula from lax...please share any leads you may have...I would be super grateful .
Ill most likely rent a car..but this is my "hail Mary"pass for other options.

Hello...just wanted share what I have learned today digging for info on shuttle vs. rental
The cheapest website to book a rental consistently was cheaprentalcar.com ....my initial price for a week's rental was 143.88 through the hertz option ,but after putting in a 10%discount code from a website called retailmenot in the PC box and my aaa discount code,the price came down to 119.00 and that's unlimited Miles for the whole week.
The price for a shuttle was 170.00+,but I am sure it is meant to be booked for more than one person,then the price would be better.
With some digging it appears the savings lean towards renting a compact for now
Just wanted to share the info if anyone else wanted to save some money

Hello fellow Permaculture People, I am looking for a ride share, shuttle, or car share, from LAX Los Angeles on Wednesday the 12th to Temecula. My Flight arrives at 11:40 am Pacific Time. I am also looking for a ride/car share/shuttle back to LAX Los Angeles on Monday the 17th, my flight doesn't leave until 9:30 pm but would be happy to get to the airport at anytime of the day on the 17th. I am super excited about this event and look forward to meeting some great folks.

Sounds like the permies house is sending someone to pick up 1 or 2 around 8 pm. Is there room for a few more?

Any rides or ideas available from Amtrak Oceanside? The only route that seems available would put me there 9pm the 12th.

I am in search of a rideshare option from the San Diego airport on the afternoon of the 12th.

I'm flying in from Sacramento and will be arriving at 2:50pm.

I'm flying in from SEA to SAN (Alaska Airlines Flight 498) arriving 9:32pm on Wednesday 12th March. I was planning on renting a car and driving to my (as yet undecided) lodging near the conference, and would be happy to carpool with any other folks arriving around the same time.

Rachel, someone else is driving Bart and I think David (though I haven't heard from David) and did say he has room for one or two more. I asked if he/the driver could post here though I haven't heard back. I think he might already be traveling.

I am picking up the 15 passenger van on Monday at 1pm. I am driving to ecotopia Ranch (Valley Center) late Monday night or early Tuesday morning for mark Shepard's workshop. I am driving to San Diego airport after workshop and then heading back North to Temecula. I think I'm picking up 2 people so far. As long as it's reasonable time and reasonable distance I will pick people until full. I am returning on 17th or 18th (I haven't decided yet but I'm thinking 18th). If you need a ride post here.

Dominic, have you found a ride share yet? We are arriving about the same time Wednesday. I found a ride later in the day around 6 or so, but looking to leave a bit sooner if possible. There are a few others arriving earlier in the day that might present some options.

I'm looking at maybe renting a shuttle van for a trip from LAX to Temecula on Weds the 12th around 4:30pm and for Monday mid day on the 18th. Let me know if you're interested in sharing.

On your post, on the top right there are (should be, when you are signed in) three buttons. One in middle should be Edit.
I think you can go in and Edit in the coded #, or take it out altogether. Hopefully no, malicious miners have found it yet!
