Jen

I hope you keep a thought in the back of your head about making some money on your pictures. Your composition seems very good and it looks like you're a real color slut <g> which might be a plus.  It probably won't make you rich, but your pics look to me (not a pro, though) as good as it gets in middle-close plant photography. And not just plants. The bugs were great, too. Who knows what would happen if  you decide to invade other subject matter?

As a business starting point, maybe you could get a few pics onto "stock" photo sites and see what happens. It's pretty sure nothing will happen very quickly, but that's the nature of "residual".

Or, my impression is that flickr.com is still one of the sites that photographers flock to and I think it has tools to  monetize your work. But it's going through changes right now and it always did have a "unique" interface. So don't know if it's good or not - worth checking out, though, I think. It does cost money for  usability. At the time I started, it was the best deal for online space and it may still be - as I say, haven't used it much lately.

Maybe create a "brand" having something to do with Montana or even Missoula. Then organize the pics in categories that make sense to people looking for something in particular. If you get the categories close enough, you might move whole categories in one transaction to people looking for pics to augment  _their_ work. I think Paul is very energetic and canny about online marketing and if it comes to that, there are a few threads here where he lays out approaches. And any name recognition you get shines on WL while you're there.

And that raises an interesting point, come to think of it: Your "Nom  de Guerre". As a rising star you'll want a good stage  name! <GGG>

I am pretty sure you have talent and inclination toward beautiful pictures and if a little $$ doesn't skew your artistic creativity, why not?

Cheers,
Rufus

Thanks, Rufus! I hadn’t considered that as a potential income stream, but it might be worth a shot!
