I just heard from somebody that they make pretty good money carving wooden spoons and the like.

I remember reading about someone who managed to run a shop in London (Fulham perhaps?) and made a living from carving spoons. I think they must have been pretty expensive

....going on a web search...... Nope I didn't find that one, but there seem to be several online shops from the UK selling lovely handmade spoons in the region of £20 - £30 a time.

My guy Steve has been hand carving wooden spoons, bowls and things for decades building a good business....he's still at it although on a much smaller scale than in the past....for fun and profit😊
