Hi

I received this message and don't understand what it is saying and what I need to do ...

I am gir bot! A rather limited bot buried deep within the bowels of this forum software.  I come to life once in a while to help with interesting chores!

Today, I have been activated because bio-staff have classified a post you wrote as "Problem with code".

Good Morning.

After reviewing the message and the linked post, I believe that originally you have posted a Youtube link in a way that it would not show the video but then corrected it. It looks like you are all good, you can disregard Gir's message.

I thought it hadn't because it doesn't acknowledge that I had started a post with a youtube video in my scavenger hunt ...
is there a way to get that box ticked?

thanks )

You know, I have had issues with that checkbox in the past myself and I wasn't so sure why.

If you would be willing to experiment with me, how about trying to link another video in this thread and we can see if we can troubleshoot it? If you make a new reply and put in a video using the Youtube box, I'm hoping it will take! Any video will do.

Lisa, hopefully the next time you that try will work.

That is an issue for most of us.

Here is some fun I had a few years ago 😍

I have forgotten how to reply without quoting so trying to start the messsge with a video is hard. I am presuming you can only do it when you start a thread.

Thanks again! and Anne!

Lisa

OK. I can see the link to the video, but it is not embedded (you can't see the actual video in the post) and hasn't completed the scavenger hunt item for you. edit -  It doesn't have to be at the start of the post - anywhere in the post will do.

What platform do you use on permies Lisa? Do you use mobile or desktop view? The aim is to get mobile as the default with as many features as possible, but at present some things you can do more easily in desktop mode.

There are (at least) 2 ways for you to do this. One is to use the buttons on the post creation window - do you see text formatting buttons with one called 'youtube'? If you do, when you are making your post you can just press that, add the youtube link (except for 'shorts' which are a bit more complex) and the video will be embedded in your post.

If not then you may have to make the link yourself using extra (hidden) text. By putting 'youtube' and '/youtube' in square brackets around your video link this will do the same thing as the editing window button. I'll break the code here so you can see:

and just in case - if you quote my post above make sure you don't have 'disable BB code' checked as that is what makes the square brackets work as code in a post.

When you post are you using the Post reply and the picking the tab for YouTube?

Or use the code:

[youtube][/youtube]

pasting the link between the brackets?

Thanks Nancy, I always use desktop, I find complicated things hard on the phone. I will go back to my self watering greenhouse post and amend as suggested. Thanks!

Looks like it worked.

Lisa is almost done with the scavenger hunt.  She just needs to start some new threads.
