Hi all,

I have just noticed that the scavenger hunt item for "posts with a video" also counts all posts with a picture. For example, taken from my profile:

Create a post with an image (97/1)
Create a post with a youtube or vimeo video (98/1)

I'm pretty sure I have only posted a single Vimeo video, for a BB, yet the count seems to be that video plus all of the image posts!

Small-holding, coppice and grassland management on a 16-acre site.

I think that my "scavenger hunt" also ahs a bug.  I am pretty sure that I made a post with a youtube video in it a week or two ago, but it still says that I need one.  I'm not paranoid about finishing the scavenger hunt, but since I only have 2 things left to accomplish, and this being one of them, I thought I would ask.  
(on a side note, the other I need to complete is starting a few more threads... I could have made this a new post to get another thread... but I believe in keeping conversations threaded by topic, so I did not want to create an extraneous new thread when I could simply highjack this one that was about a similar topic)

The scavenger hunt task wants you to 'embed' the video. To embed a youtube video, you are supposed to surround the youtube address with [youtube][/youtube] tags.

For example:


This makes the video render on permies like this:



On your post, it seems that you had posted a link without the [youtube] tags, and someone in the staff has fixed it for you.

OK.  So, just to clarify:
Apparently I did not post the video in the correct format for the algorithms to count it.  
It is now in the correct format due to someone correcting it for me.
I don't remember how I entered the url for the video the first time.  

I'm going to try doing it correctly here:
I used the "youtube" button above this box in the editing window and entered the link from youtube, then hit "ok"
Before hitting submit, I am looking at my link and comparing it to the template you shared:

I attaching a screenshot of what I see, just in case it does not work.

Hi permies,
I don't know if it's correct to add to this topic or start a new one.
I was trying to get the video part of the scavenger hunt done and created this post:
Post in Rocket Ovens

Then I remebered I had, some time ago, posted a video of Paul in one of the topics, where I thought it would help:

None of them seem to have counted towards the video part of the hunt.

Benjamin, this is exactly the right place to post your question.

Based on the suggestions above from Devaka, it looks to me like your video is correctly formatted for embedding, but I see you didn't get credit for it in your scavenger hunt.
Could you make another post in this thread and embed the video in it? Let's see what happens.

Oh, it might be helpful to know what hardware/software you use for Permies. For example: I'm on a Raspad with Chromium browser. Sometimes I use my desktop PC Windows 10 and Firefox.

thanks for answering.
As for hard and software:
I use a windows (10 I think) with chrome. A Linux with chrome and sometimes (like now) my phone, am android, with chrome.

I'll try to add the video here again.


Please note that I also posted a YouTube video a while back and that didn't count either.

Benjamin, it worked! At least, one of them worked. You now have credit on your scavenger hunt for creating a post with a video. It's only counting one, but it's enough to complete that item on the hunt.

Benjamin, I honestly don't know. There are some known quirks to the scavenger hunt, which are beyond my understanding of computer software. These get addressed by our developers from time to time, but bugs still pop up. The developers keep track of threads like this one, so the best thing to do is report new problems here.

I posted them using [vimeo] when it’s a video on Vimeo and with [youtube] when it was on YouTube.

I'm afraid that's the limits of my 'tinkering capabilities Benjamin!

Please be patient, there's a lot going on in the background at the moment just keeping the old server limping along under the face of bots and creaking capacity. darn it worked.... now my scavenger hunt list sees the task completed. This is strange, because I copied the text from another post (copy and paste without change) and it recognized it here. This is the original post that didn't get dthe youtube videos recognized in scavenger hunt list:
