This week Stefan Sobkowiak will be joining us to discuss the movie The Permaculture Orchard: Beyond Organic and to answer questions related to this topic.

There are 4 copies of The Permaculture Orchard: Beyond Organic (choice of either the DVD or the streaming version!) up for grabs.

Stefan will be stopping by on the forum over the next few days answering questions and joining in discussions.

From now through this Friday, any posts in this forum, ie the forest garden forum, could be selected to win.

To win, you must use a name that follows our naming policy and you must have your email set up in Paul's Daily-ish email.

The winner will be notified by email and must respond within 24 hours.

Posts in this thread won't count, but please feel free to say hi to Stefan and make him feel welcome!

Stefan - I just wanted to congratulate you on putting together what I think is the best one-stop video on building a permaculture food system that I've seen, anywhere. I watched it the day after my download link showed up, and I have to say, great job! I'll definitely be recommending it to everyone I know who's even slightly interested in permaculture. Thanks for sharing your experience in such a clear and open way!

Supported the Kickstarter for the DVD level, mostly because I think I'm going to want to share it with friends, but you guys who have seen it are making me jealous!
If you guys haven't already, friend Miracle Farm on FB; Stefan posts good stuff there too.

Welcome Stefan! I supported the kickstarter and was anxiously awaiting the video. I am watching a little each day trying to absorb as much as possible and I appreciate every detail you've put into this. I'm creating an EFF on 2/3'rds of an acre on the north coast of California (5 hours north of San Francisco). Thank you so much for giving me the tools to do this.

Mary I suggest you watch it 3-10 times. There are a LOT OF ONE SENTENCE DETAILS that you can easily miss but that are really important. If you are planning to do something related to one chapter just watch that chapter a couple of times then GO DO IT.

The biggest challenge is getting over the fact that you will rip up most of it and start over. Better to start right than start over.

Looks awesome, Stefan! Planning a surprise site design for my parents' 3 acres in KY as a Christmas present and I think this will really help with the process!

Wow, I am late picking the winners, sorry (I have good excuses).

Anyhow, I ran the winner picker app in the forum software and only one of the 2 winners is on the daily-ish email, so we only have one winner.

John Elliott

Congratulations John!

I sent you an email to ask for the email address of the person that first referred you to Permies.com. That person (if qualified) will also get a copy of the book and a permies care package.

I am a little curious that the OP stated that there would be 4 prizes yet only two were awarded

well, there are 2 winners that are picked with the forum software. If none of the winners are on the daily-ish email list I rerun the software and get 2 new winners. If only one of them is on the daily-ish, there is only one winner. The 2 other copies are for the people who referred the winners at permies. In this case the only winner was not referred by anybody, so only one copy was given away.

The thing is, the more someone refers to permies, the more chances that person has to win. The referral price is actually really sweet, a book/dvd/event ticket and a care package (https://permies.com/forums/posts/list/15277#230491).

I guess I don't understand the process to win a DVD or book or whatever. The thread says to click on a link to enter that thread (which I did for Stephen) but when I put in a question (and it looks like not that many people did, so I thought my chances of winning were pretty respectable) I see that in red it says at the top of the page that this wasn't the page that you conversed on to have your name put into the hat. I totally don't understand. Can you please tell us what we need to do in the future? I'm on the daily-ish email list. So does everyone on the list have their name thrown in? Even if they had no interest and no time to post a comment?

Posts in this thread do not count. To get a chance to win one must post in the forum where the promotion is run. In this case, questions in the forest garden forum (https://permies.com/forums/f-116/forest-garden) were considered. There were lots of posts last week.

Apparently I didn't understand which link to click on then. I tried 4 times and it kept taking me to this part of the website. Where was the link to click on that took one to the proper page?

When I clicked on the link you posted it took me to another page with Stephen's link on it (at the top) which I clicked on to post a comment which took me back to this page. What was I supposed to do as obviously this was the incorrect thing to do. Thanks Adrien.

Denice, when you clicked on the link Adrien provided that took you to the 'forest garden' FORUM. Once there, in order to be considered for the contest you would have needed to start a new topic with a question for Stefan. i think even posting in someone elses thread /topic would have had you in the running. The topic that doesn't count for the contest is the 'welcome' thread/topic.

Any posts in the forum during the promo week counts except for replies in this thread. So that means that the more you participate in the forum, the more chances you get. An important criteria for winning is the quality of the post. A post that is an excellent question or really information dense has more chances of winning.

OK. I finally get it. Thanks to all of you who helped me understand. I've missed out on three promos because I didn't know how to do it correctly. Onwards and upwards.

So what happens to the unclaimed prizes? Does the promoter not have to outlay the money, do they go to the library at basecamp, or go to take over the world in some other way? (just curious)

Adrien after all the effort people put into the contest why not just run the APP tell me the 2 other names that come up and I will personally send them the other 2 copies!!! I'm not big on rules. I know your contest has rules, rules are meant to be bent. Let me bend them. Your promo said 4 copies let's see 4 copies given out, 2 from Permies and 2 from me, period.
