Like a lot of things lately, this could be an AI creation.
The article said this was a 570 # beam that was carved in place from a scaffold, took eight months!
If real, it's very cool, I want one!

OH MY YES!!! That's awesome!
I wonder how much AI will affect art the right way, people saying "Huh, how COULD I do something like that then?"

I went down a dragon rabbit hole a while back, dragon sinks. Impossible to keep clean easily, and that's priority in my kitchens, but OOOOOH!!
And it DOES make me think "What CAN I do that fits my parameters?"
What  I CAN do is my own art of a dragon (or something else I want) on a countertop and do an acrylic resin pour over it. That's how my bathroom counters are designed, I can do a kitchen one too :D

Thomas, you want one whether it's real or not - you just have to figure out if you have a place for it, and someone to carve it for you, and then decide if you're willing to pay the price!

It is gorgeous. It is a "cat dragon". The kitchen island work top is a "puppy dragon". I love both of them, but am quite sure I wouldn't like the price tags.

The first water dragon seems  a bit over-kill to me. I am not sure I'd want that taking over my kitchen, and my scaredy-kitty daughter in-in-law would freak out. (She's wonderful, but on the sensitive side, and getting braver, as we try to convince her that darkness is her friend.)

Personally, the second water dragon is just a little too evil looking for me to want in my house. It is more of a novel art dragon to me.

I admit I would be thrilled to even be able to draw wonderful dragons like that, let alone manufacture them in 3D.

I think it is real as there are folks that would do that.

Real or not, that is just way cool!

I was idly browsing for used kitchen cabinets a couple of years ago and these showed up...

There's a two door and a three door unit, complete with marble worktops and with four of the doors carved with seasonal dragons breathing life into sleeping twigs.

So naturally I decided that these were meant to be in my kitchen, even though we haven't built it yet.

Here's a close-up of one of the dragons...

They count as art in my books!

I do like the idea of functional art - rather than something beautiful that is just going to catch dirt....

Cob is probably one way of making something awesome - like this bench:

Isn't that just begging to be a Rocket Mass Heater?

I agree that functional art is awesome! Many times, clothing can be "functional art". Carpets often are. (I would love a dragon area rug!)

Many every day household items used to be made to be both functional and beautiful. I think part of the problem is the push nowadays for the "in" colour and the "in" style. Items that used to be bought to last 30 years, many people now replace after 5.

How about a wearable dragon...

Came with this blurb:
"Who says you have to dress "age-appropriately" for your 50th-anniversary vow renewal? šŸ•ŠšŸ‰

Grandma told the designer she didn't want a "sensible" lace suit. She wanted to look like she just stepped out of a legend. This gown was a collaboration between a master lacemaker and a woodcarver who did the resin headpiece. She said after 50 years of marriage, she’s earned her wings—so she made sure they were 15 feet long and attached to a dragon. She looked absolutely powerful walking down that garden path.

The way the "bone" structure of the wings is highlighted by the sunset is just magical. Just appreciate the confidence."

THAT is AWESOME!! If it's AI, it's replicatable. That concept could be done a bunch of ways. I might go with a stuffed dragon head that hooks into the embroidery down the dress...
Off the net, looks like someone on Etsy is selling these:

That kind of head hooking into jeweled and metallic scales down a dress would be LOVELY.

Too too cool. Dragons are too neat. I'm having too much fun with this thread!!  :D

Do sea-dragons count?

I found this totally amazing stone table with carved 'legs' that sing to me and support my attempts to write things. Though one of them needs a bit of a repair...

I don't know what sort of stone it is but I'm sure it's dragon-scale. Don't you think?

And here's a close-up of one of the sea-dragons.

My plushy dragons immediately wrote a poem to it when it arrived, and gave names to each of the dragons. Including the broken one.

"I keep four mighty sea-dragons
to help me find my Tao -
Observação and Percepção,
and my Imaginação

They call to me from land and sea
and though I know not how
they'll help me to repair
my beloved Criação."

Seems to be working!

Edit to add, if you listen very carefully, you can hear the sea-dragons singing to you . It sounds a lot like this...

Ooh, I agree with Pearl - that's got possibilities...
I couldn't find a whole dragon outfit (lots of lovely probably AI generated...), but these knitted scales could be quite effective:

lavish craft on ravelry

I'm imagining a figure hugging knitted dress with shawl like wings and a dragon head hat.....

Hmm, not so many hats as I thought.
I quite like this one

cute (etsy source)

The best ones are crochet rather than knit.
This one I'd prefer nostrils rather than the whiskers

etsy source

Could be a (very small) gap in the market for a more detailed knitted dragon hat.
