Just heard through my inner network of wood gas enthusiasts about this potentially standard-setting book on DIY wood gasification systems. Ben Peterson had developed a small following with his past projects and has been featured in media such as Popular Mechanics shown here. After some years on his work he has now written this book which will be followed by another detailing the control systems in the near future. It should be a saving grace as far as time saved in research as it should be a convenient source of practicle and concentrated information.

Ben Peterson is the founder of Victory Gasworks but he recently sold his company. It's am not sure he is in the business anymore but I know others who are. Vulcan Gasifier makes their own systems here that perform similar function. If you want this particular build in the book than you might want to purchase the book and link up with a handy DIYer because it requires some machining/welding skills.

I have been waiting for this book for a couple of years glad to buy it.
You might post by the BUY link that it is a digital download copy not a hard copy book.
I missed it when I purchased thinking I was getting a book, download is still OK!
Thanks
Bob Jordan

When I go through that link it takes me to quick express checkout but doesn't give shipping cost. How much for shipping to Canada?

It's a digital download so there is no shipping, it goes to your computer. If you want a hard copy I think you have to go to his website or Amazon.

Why do they have to use paypal? I would like to purchase the book but it will cost me about $150 due to having holds on my account since someone initiated a charge back almost two months after the sale (they received the product). Hopefully that issue will be resolved soon so I can purchase the book.

This is super cool! It is now on my very long list of books to purchase. Hopefully I will be able to afford this one soon. It is now closer to the top of the list than most. Kim

Odd, it was not working on my computer earlier. Oh well, thanks anyways! I guess my computer was being a stubborn mule.

8 out of 10 Acorns

This is an easy-to-follow, step by step guide to building your own gasifier. I haven't read up on how gasifiers work, but I sure know how to make one now. This harkens to my days of playing with k'nex and legos and those easily understood picture diagrams: each step has a picture of the assembly as it is built with zoom-ins of of the tricky parts. The pictures are great and the large font is nice on the eyes.

I would have liked a bit more information about how gasifiers work and what each part does what. As an engineer, I unable to modify (and, dare I say, possibly improve) the plans without any knowledge of the internal functions. However, I gathered from the introduction that the theory behind how they work is readily available online, but the actual building steps are vague and hard to find. So the book accomplishes its purpose, but for a second edition, it would be nice to learn a bit more about how they work.

Thanks for the +20,000 hours of experience that you are sharing with the world in book format Ben Peterson!

I've wanted to build one of these for a while. Perhaps this summer will be it!
