BEL #58 24th of March, 2025 Tuesday
I’m back… again, and I’m excited to ease back into the pace and the projects here in bootcamp. I got to meet Esteban the other boot here currently, so I included a picture of him taking a picture of me photographing him for our respective BELs. Monday started off with an easy morning of cleaning out Allerton Abbey for guests followed by some log bucking and splitting at the woodshed by the tipi. We stopped to make a withdrawal from the willow warehouse too. In the afternoon I fiddled with the Crimson Crim bike to see if there is any way we can get it going. My hopes are meager in that happening without some expert e-bike help. Nevertheless I was refreshed with the sight bee visiting crocus. To cap off the day I harvested some sunchokes, how I missed those funky little potato adjacent perennial root foods.
Tuesday turned up with a garden gate project to get a BB. So we spent the morning harvesting, stripping and notching poles. We used a bow saw to take down the poles which really helped me remember how much I appreciate the modern convenience of a chain saw. After lunch we worked on junkpole fences around base camp, then spread cover crop and watered at Allerton Abbey. This was my first taco Tuesday since being back and I’m glad to say that it was a full table followed by a lovely pie and ice cream. Yum!
