This is Paul Wheaton's 16th Kickstarter!

When you’re bonkers about permaculture, you might seem a bit crazy to your friends and family.

Twelve years ago, we came out with a deck of Permaculture Playing Cards.
The idea was simple: give these decks to people as gifts so you seem a little less crazy.

And it worked.

People loved them so much that they kept asking for another deck.
So we started a long list of ideas, over a hundred in total, and chose the best ones to bring you something new:
the Purple Deck.

Why It Works

Here’s the magic: You hand someone a deck, maybe that cousin who thinks you’ve lost it because of your bizarre gardening techniques. They open it up, pull out two random cards, and spend about seven seconds looking at each.

That’s all it takes. Two cards. Fourteen seconds. And suddenly, they’re hooked on permaculture.

Each card is designed to spark curiosity and share one fascinating slice of the gardening, homesteading and permaculture world, from rocket cooktops to willow feeders, from forage gardening to cleaners you can eat.

What’s Inside the Purple Deck

Kickstarter kickback program!

You can get paid to share this project!

I am so excited that there is going to be a new pig card!
My neighbor and I got pigs this year and I will finally get a chance to try sealing a pond with the help of pigs!

I put off getting pigs for a long time because I thought it would be hard.  They are actually really easy and super cute.  Just like it shows in the card!

Quick update!

Kate Downham has a kickstarter of her own running right now.   ( just 4 days left! )

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/katedownham/sourdough-without-fail

"Sourdough can be approachable, everyday, simple bread that fits in with your life."

That sounds great to me.
I am looking forward to having this resource in my kitchen.    I ordered the physical book.

Here are cards from the permaculture deck and from the gardening deck for comparison.   I like how they each have their own style.

Oh love bugs, energy is an interesting phenomenon that we're still in infancy of understanding.  Ancients must've had a greater understanding and with it... an understanding of why most was purposefully 'lost'.

Learning our history as not to repeat is a brick and mortar concept.  We reinvent movies constantly, we think we're all doing what's best for whatever best interests we hold.

We know not what we do.

We call purple permaculture the spiritual side, because it has much to do with observation and feeling.  Instead of developing a plan and following the plan, it's getting clues and listening to what the land/ecosystem needs and what it will support.

That said, Law of Attraction is real.  We attract what we are.  As stewards of the land, where is our heart and moral compass? What are we creating? What's the underlying emotion? If it's negative, it will attract negative... blight, pests, etc... and not everything is bad.

That said, watch why things are under attack by pests... take a moment, if you can, and understand the life we are witnessing.  A lot of what we start has grand development in our minds... yet, an unhealthy anything isn't always our forte and mother nature knows better.

We can talk about color properties with solar water, sounds, electroculture, etc... I'm happy to indulge in any/all of it.  ❤️

It's really about remembering who we are, that we are connected to Source/Universe/Nature [<~ insert comfortable reference here] instead of being separated from It.

❤️

Hello Mona!  Thank you for your lovely post!

It is pretty fun that this is the Purple deck of cards!!!

I am so happy to see that this kickstarter is funded and the cards will be printed and shared far and wide!    There has also been some talk of an ebook with even more information on each topic.  I really appreciate this style of art mixed with well written informational content.  I think it will have a broad appeal and help people learn about permaculture and gardening.

We are thinking of adding a new reward.  Something we did for the first deck where a few people could have their name hidden in a card.

I hope you do add this reward!
It is a lot of fun hunting through the first deck and trying to find all the things hidden there!   I did not get my name in that deck but I would love to have my name in this one!

Some of you asked for more than 2 decks of cards, so we have added a new reward where you can get half a brick, or 6 decks of the new Permaculture Playing Cards.

If you are already backing at 2 decks and bump up your pledge to 6 decks before we reach 25,000 dollars, you also get the Free Heat combo.

Click Here to go to Kickstarter and get your 6-deck set now.

Also remember that if you back at the Goofball level before we reach the same $25,000 dollars, you get a one-hour consultation with the Duke of Permaculture to review your site or talk about any permaculture-related topic.

Hi, I joined the kickstarter with 12 decks but I was looking for the button to add more of these to the basket but it appears it is only possible to purchase 1 (please tell me if I am wrong ) I would be happy to buy several sets of 12 and boost the kickstarter along if this is an option as I don’t want my name on any cards and I see this reward as great value.

Some of you accurately pointed out that it would be nice if there were a way to expand the knowledge presented in the cards. So, we've been working on an ebook named Permaculture Bits and Bobs, where we take each card and add some comprehensive info about the subjects. When you’re playing with them and want to find out more, you can read further  and if that’s not enough, we’re going to link to permies threads where even more information and discussion will be available!

What are your thoughts?

How the cards looks for comparison:

There's a double "then" where it describes the walls horizontal space.
Under "overall design".

Hello Paul!

I would also like to get more than 12 decks of cards!   Maybe we can ask about another backer level.  Maybe 24 decks??  That would be awesome!

We have an idea to make an eBook called something like "Permaculture bits and bobs".  Each page would feature a card and we would add a bunch more info.

So here is the card for the rocket oven.  For the page for this card ...

CLICK HERE to go to the rocket oven and help us with:

  - should we add five or six more points?

  - maybe expand on some of the points already made?

Ideas?  Words?  Prose?

What if we use the time between printing and shipping to add an optional upgrade? It could let backers add new decks before everything ships out.

Here's an idea to run with... Add more pages to this ebook to cover the original deck information as well! A hardcopy version and decks delivered (by who knows!?) will then be of more educational value and cover twice the concepts. I hope you are putting some notification/invitation  to the ebook in the purple deck so the uninitiated have a clue where to find more information. Maybe you're already going to.  That's my additional 2 cents.

As to the additional points or expanding on some, fit as much as you can on any given page. Possibly costs, gains, or other valuable information that can be summed up in a sentence or small graphic.

As pointed out here a lot of our systems are being pooped on by "bad guys".  this means that we send email to 120,000 people, but only 4000 people actually get that email.  So thanks to the people that have taken steps to get our email.  We are taking steps to mitigate the efforts of "bad guys."

This has been going on for about three years.

All I can think of for what to do is "make the best of it."  Do the work. Try. Figure it out. Try some more.

I am sorry if this ends up being a bit much for the few folks that are getting the emails.

Wow, so close to the stretch goal!

Is the PDC and ATC offer streaming? Or tiny download?

Ive increased my pledge by another $33.  Looking forward to being able to see the PDC+ATC & Free Heat Combo!!  What a deal of a steal.

Its been so long since I received my PDC, and this will make for an amazing refresher.  Since it is coming from wheaton labs im certain it will be even better, and for like 1/100 of the cost!

Now the total is showing...

...$24,896

Getting closer!

Hello Kate!  Great question!  I know that makes a big difference to are off grid or working with limited internet.    I don't see that mentioned in the description of the courses.  I will find out!

Thanks!
