It has something to do with the book processor and some sort of bizarre tax stuff and crazy.   We explored a lot of ways to make this work for everybody and they all sucked.   And this one ended up being the least sucky.

6 tickets to the permaculture design course ....

6 tickets to the appropriate technology course ...

Here is how we are going to do this.   Shortly after the kickstarter is done, we are going to provide a special email address.   Everybody that is certain that they CAN attend and wants to attend will send an email.  And then the 6 people that have contributed the most to the kickstarter will be selected.

paul wheaton wrote:I think now is the time to explain the deal with Jacob's book.

We spent a lot of time talking about this and trying to come up with something that would work for us and work for jacob.  In the end, this is what we came up with:

The top 100 USA backers will get a copy of Jacob's book.

I think that what we will do is ask in the survey "are you in the USA and wish to have ERE?"  And then select out the top 100 backers (in dollars to the kickstarter).

It might be strategically wise for people to add a penny or two to their backer amount?

I am very excited about his book - any way to find out what my ranking is?

Jacob's book is a very good book!

Well, if you take a look at the rewards on the kickstarter page, it does talk a bit about how many people are backing at each level.

Oh, for a moment there I thought the US Government decided to declare 'Early Retirement' to be a 'dangerous muntion' and slapped an export restriction on it.  ;)

True. Who is ahead of me in higher categories, just not in the same category. It was worth a shot :)

Also, I know there are a ton of logistical things to figure out when all this is complete. Let me know if you need an extra hand

Hmmm, top 100 from USA? Ok Paul, you got me... this Kickstarter stuff is addictive! I bumped to the $200 level... I’ll have some explaining to do to the missus when a dozen books arrive, as is. I’m thinking this is all I want for my 50th birthday in July... and I’m also looking at it as an investment in my kids’ future. 😳😜😂

I wonder if others did what I did and moved to the $100 level to get the audio book and the "book" book. The RMH plans helped too.

If the plane tickets make financial sense for the date of the party, sign me up! But it all comes down to the finances I’m afraid.

Sniff Sniff, I was really looking forward to this book, along with all the other stretched goals, off course. Any chance that we, as overseas European folk eg., can be included for this goal?

Sorry Judith, this was the only way we were able to make things work to offer this at all. If there was an easier way, we would gladly have taken it.

Hypothetically speaking, if someone, somehow, someway, actually wanted tons of physical books (weird, right?) and pledged multiple times at or above the $100 level, would that freaky person actually get their totals combined when it comes to the top 100 backers in the USA?

hypothetically, of course...

Great your doing so well guys!

If I choose the $100 and Virgin Islands because I don't require any physical books,  does that work for you, even though I'm in the UK?

Or do I choose $100, pay $175, select UK and tell you after that I don't want any physical books and get the shipping money back?

The second scenario seems more hassle for you but as I don't know how it works, maybe the first will cause more hassle?

Thanks, Sarah

Thanks Sarah! If you do not want any physical books, then please select US Virgin Islands as your shipping destination.

Checking just now, it seems to be at $132,805 WOW!

If you have been thinking about wanting to go to the PDC this summer, and haven't purchased your ticket yet, the next goal is a ticket to the PDC for the top 6 backers! If you can be in the top 6 backers you could get a ticket and wouldn't that be awesome? GRIN yes i am totally going for one of those 6 spots!

Hi Paul, I have a question.  Is it *only* the 40.00 backers that receive the audiobook? I quess I should clarify here, I pledged more than that by quite a bit.

And if you point me to the person who wanted the e-book after pledging for the audiobook, I'll gladly share one of my codes with that person, if you're cool with that (or is that not allowed?)

Thanks,
~ST
