CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE KICKSTARTER

It's happening! The Kickstarter for Building a Better World in Your Backyard by Paul Wheaton and Shawn Klassen-Koop has started!

Kickstarter Kickback:

We wish to reward the people who tell others about the Kickstarter. More info HERE! A full media kit is available HERE.

Excerpt from the Introduction:

“For nearly every global problem, there are solutions we can implement in our backyard that also save us money and help us live more luxuriant lives. A few of us do these things and bask in the flow of the opulence and extra cash. Others observe and think, “I want extra luxury and money too! Not fair!” And then they emulate. And on and on it goes. Then the global problems sorta just dry up and blow away. That’s what this book is all about.

I think the reason we see so many people angry is because they authentically care; but they seem to get stuck at being angry. Some people spend a hundred hours a week for 20 years being angry and not much changes. But I think that if you spend a tiny fraction of that time doing the things mentioned in this book, your global positive impact will be a thousand times greater.”

Inside the book:

All of the details on the rewards, the table of contents, and more can be found on the Kickstarter page:

Haha, I was watching the $$s go up to $4k and wondering what Paul's reaction was. Now I know! So glad you guys are getting support for this awesome book!

Crossing my fingers that MOTHER EARTH NEWS will publish my review of the book today...we'll see! I'll post it here once they publish it.

Awesome! Great to see how quickly it is getting supported! I just got it shared on pinterest, twitter, and facebook. I also added it to my weekly newsletter that just went out to 359 people. I still need to add something to my site and also to steemit. I also backed it myself

Hope this is the right place to post this -

I went to change my pledge from $80 (12 books with its ouching $50 for shipping) to Glory $100 -still 12 books but an ouch and a half $75 for shipping. Is that right or have I missed something? Is the early access to the manuscript a physical copy hence the extra postage?

So happy to see those pledges rolling in so fast guys.

Lesley

Hey Lesley, thanks for your support!

Shipping is a bit of a mess. I tried to talk a bit about it here:

https://permies.com/t/107089/International-shipping-world-book-kickstarter

As far as I understand, once the kickstarter is live we can't change the shipping charges on the reward levels. But if you have ideas on how to lower our costs, please post there.

Just checked back on the Kickstarter trending page... and the Better World Book is now #2 on the list!

Edit: And now I'm not seeing it... but I got a screenshot!

I don't know what "the Kickstarter trending page" - but it sounds like we are doing the things to get attention to permaculture!

Under the explore link on the homepage you can see projects based on different categories. One of them is trending projects that are ranked based on popularity. I went to that page while logged out on an incognito browser to see how the project was doing in terms of popularity across kickstarter. First time I checked it was #74 then it jumped to #2 but now I don't see it... not sure how that page works but still exciting and I got you a screenshot if you want for proof that it was "trending"

Edit: now it is back at #74... not sure why the jump happened but hopefully it will jump back up to #2 or even #1!

I went online and pledged to Kickstarter about 3 hours ago and it was over $5K.  Just for grins I checked it out a few minutes ago and it is over $13K!  Congrats Paul.  I'm looking forward to getting my copies of the book.  I already have someone in mind for the other copy.  I'm fairly new to the permaculture world and I'm excited to be developing our brand spanking new homestead using permaculture principles from the get go.

It was already funded by the time I was able to finish a post about it for my blog!  Of course, I still made the post there as well as my FaceBook page and a group page that might be interested in it.  I've got another site in mind to share it with yet, but think it will be seen more if I wait until tomorrow for that post.

At the current rate I suspect this will be double fully funded before midnight rolls around!
