This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP Curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Natural Medicine.

Here is my submission for the Natural Medicine Aspect - Straw - Quinn List - Help with Burn BB.

T22 (pseudonym) burned the back of several fingers of her right hand in December.  Three fingers had first-degree burns with the most severe on the middle finger.  Ice had cooled the burn but it was still uncomfortable.

Recommendations:
     - Behavioral: continue to use ice and do not pour boiling water into tea mugs for several days (use other hand or have housemate pour water)
     - Food as medicine: honey as salve
     - Concoctions: wound salve that I made which included infused oils that I made from burdock, comfrey, and mint/tea tree.

T22 applied honey and used ice for two days and the burn continued to worsen.  On the third day, she also used colloidal silver gel and it was no longer painful on the fifth day.

To document the completion of the BB, I have provided the following photos to supplement the above information:
- Picture of you with friend at the first meeting
- Bonus: photo of burn
- Picture of you with friend (giving a thumbs up) at your last meeting

"Gertrude"  Was pouring boiling water over their thumb, and burned it. It soon started to swell up and hurt. It lasted for around 24 hours., but wasn't very severe. I diagnosed them with the option of either aloe-Vera, or arnica, they chose the latter. we covered the thumb in arnica gel, as shown in the pictures. I instructed them not to touch it,  and to wrap is in plastic wrap., after we put the arnica on. It soon stopped swelling, and stopped hurting. This was very successful.

This is Hermoine. She forgot sunscreen. Oy. I recommended a slathering of lavender balm and aloe Vera. She did this at night, and literally the next morning, her skin was tanned not burned. We still applied the same remedies the next day. Good stuff!! I attribute this quick recovery to the good homeade balm and fresh aloe leaf.
