Well............ this was my first time cooking eggs!
This was supposed to turn into omlettes but they decided to be a sorry excuse for discolored scrambled eggs. Believe it or not they tasted EGGcelent ! I really liked their texture too.
Here's the link.
Here is may attempt at the cooking an egg BB. Egg is from my Khaki Campbell duck. She lays an egg pretty much every day, and doesn’t dig holes in my yard.
No pictures handy but my cast iron skillet is at least 50-60 years old and when clean and properly maintained has a glassy smooth finish. The best thing I ever did for this skillet was to start cooking bacon! Cooking bacon in it daily built up a nice carbonized layer of oils and as long as I keep doing that virtually nothing sticks to the surface.
When I acquired the skillet, it was rusty and useless. I scrubbed it to shiny metal and then treated it with cooking oil in a 500 degree oven to start rebuilding the carbonized/polymerized oil surface. It worked OK and slowly got better with use but when I started having bacon and eggs for breakfast it suddenly developed the surface I was always looking for!
A few days ago, I seasoned cast iron for the first time in my life: this 6 inch skillet.
Today, I fried an egg for this BB. It's about the 5th egg that I'm frying in the same skillet.
I believe I'm hooked :-)
I’m out at my cabin this weekend and eggs always taste better when they’re cooked on a wood stove right? I tried uploading video on another BB but it didn’t work. Hoping this one does and it passes the sliding test. Seasoned cast iron pan cleaned with paper towel after cooking.

I switched our pans to cast iron back in December and can't believe I didn't do it sooner :O So easy to cook and maintain! It doesn't happen every time, but 90% of the time I can cook eggs without sticking
Note to self: Make sure super helpful visitors know not to soak them to help clean up :O
To show you've completed this Badge Bit, you must provide:
- a ten second long video showing the egg sliding around the pan
- pics (or video) of the pan cleanup
