Somebody asked about using thread boost today, so here is the response I sent:

...  your query is about thread boost, and I do think that our thread boost works wonderfully.   Although I have seen different threads get the same amount of boost and some threads will get 50,000 views and other threads will get 800 views.

Last year, I gave this thread a lot of thread boost for 30 days:

https://permies.com/t/87936/rocket-ovens-kickstarter

It got 59,808 views.

So you go to your thread, scroll to near the bottom and there is the big button that says "Boost this thread".  Click that and you see all the options.  Here is what I did for my thread:

     - 2000 "similar threads"

     - 4 "additional forums"

     - 500,000 DX5 at "extreme priority"

     - 200,000 email ads at "extreme priority" at the bottom (people get really annoyed with the ads at the top)

That's it.  Most people that use thread boost go for "autolink".  I rarely use that anymore.  I think these four are the real workhorses.

I hope this helps.

I am posting for the first time.  I think.  And what I am posting about is the squash seed giveaway.  At least that is my intention. See, I am 69 (which is code for: my brain came of age before computers and has not yet caught up) and just moved from the rolling hills of NC to the mountains, so from zone 7b to 6 a/b (don't know which yet, or both, here in my little holler with its white pine woods, open meadow, and flood plain by the little creek.)  It is a dream come true.  So, new to this area.  In years past I have grow many pumpkins and squash-- but what will grow here?  I have the flood plain garden spot, and I have a steep bank right outside my back door where the land rises up the hill to the piney woods.  There is a fence put in by the former owner at the base of the hill, so I would love to try growing squashy guys there to let them climb, and I would also love to put them in the garden by the creek where they have plenty of rooooom to run all over.  It's adventure gardenin', my favorite kind.
Staff note (Pearl Sutton) :

Copied to the right thread

Loooong ago, we offered a 50% affiliate fee for people that would set up a web page for somebody and then convince that somebody to buy thread boost.  Nobody did it.  Are you saying that you will be the first person to do that?

Here at permies, we are not a fan of having a thread that is copied and pasted into multiple forums. In fact, that is a good way to see your threads disappear. Instead, you can create one thread and then add it to several forums at once. The Thread Boost feature, described in the OP here, lets you do that.
