This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEA curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Community.

Building community includes the online world.   Let's make a really engaging permies post to bring people together!

Minimum Requirements:
  - Make a post here on permies.com
  - It gets at least 100 replies
        - Your replies don't count

This is an especially fun challenge, since Permies is one of the communities I'm most engaged in.

My current best is in the 50s for replies apparently. Second running is in the upper 30s.

It might be fun to link to some threads that meet the criteria as we come upon them.

I believe I created an engaging post about my greenhouse.  I had a lot of posts within it but there were plenty of replies.  40 posts per page and 10 pages of posts so I think it qualifies.  I don't know an easy way to count up non-OP replies...

Probably the best way to count is to check the total reply count and then manually count OP posts and subtract. Not hard, but tedious.

Mike, I did a search for your thread title, and it pulled up 7 pages of comments. I started counting replies, skipping over yours, and reached 100 by the third page. It took less than a minute, I think, so I suggest anyone applying for this BB has an original thread title to search for.

The more straightforward approach prevails! I have a knack for trying to do arithmetic and counting the wrong way. This is why I was a humanities major.

Books. Would furthering my knowledge of these subjects count as a badge?

Would it count by itself as a badge? I did enter it on my own thread.

Sorry, all the PEA and PEP badges (and the BBs within them) have been fully defined and are unlikely to change

I started a thread as a simple writing challenge to encourage people to be creative, while not being overly time committing or scary. Yes, there really are people who are afraid to write.

It was a lot of work to manage, particularly the first couple of pages. But I was reminded that permies are a *really* creative bunch of people!

By near the end of page four, I had over 130 responses to this thread.

In fact, I think I'll bump it near the holidays as it's a great "icebreaker" or "keep the kids out of trouble" sort of game.

Oooh, oooh! I have a few of these! Here's, I think, my most popular:

You know you're a permie when....

I started it on June 2nd, 2016, and it's most recent post was 7 days ago. I haven't counted how many of the posts in that thread are mine, but there are 1,230 posts, so I'm pretty sure that's more than 100 posts that aren't mine!

Note: It wouldn't surprise me if 100 posts were mine! Great thread, Nicole!

The easist way, I found, to see how many posts are in a thread you started, is to go to your profile.

When you're at you're profile, you can click on the number above the word "threads." Then look through there and find the thread with more than 100 replies. Then you have to count the non-you posts to make sure there are 100+ of them.

Another thing to know is that most threads on permies have 40 posts per page. So if you scroll through three pages of your thread, and don't see more than 20 of your own replies, you're good!

(To double-check to make sure your thread has 40 posts per page, just click on the second page of your thread. The URL will change from https://permies.com/t/56757/permie to https://permies.com/t/40/56757/permie. That 40 in the url indicates the number of posts per page!)

Click the number of threads to see if you have any threads with more than 100 replies.

Check for reply numbers that are more than 100. Do PEP threads count?
