We get sudden thermals here sometimes that stress the glass so much it just shatters, but if that had happened in your location you would have noticed so I’m thinking no. I’ll bet you the gauges got water in them somehow—maybe from melting snow—it froze and broke the gauges, then melted and drained away. We always put ours away when it starts getting frosty, just in case.
Tomorrow doesn’t exist and never will. There is only the eternal now. Do it now.
One sort of cracked in half, but each one had bottom 'cut off' in pieces, there were no freezing temps just extreme wind and rain. Some of the plastic holding the glass tube was also damaged.
I've had plastic ones crack too But they weren't excessively tapered, just a couple of degrees of angle.
