Hello friends!

I am trying to get my garden started.
Where did you all get your seeds from when you started?

This year I’m planning on a small garden,
but hoping in the next couple years to have a beautiful big garden
once that we get property.
If you have any advice would love the help.

Of all the seed companies I have tried, I like American Seed sold at Dollar General.

I get almost all of my seeds from two sources:

1.  Southern Exposure Seed Exchange ( https://www.southernexposure.com )

2.  Sandhill Preservation Center ( https://www.sandhillpreservation.com )

A wonderful selection, and they aren't huge McSeed outlets.



Determining the difference between Bockings 4 and 14 is done by consensus. It's like trying to identify the difference between twins.

My favorite outlets: FedCo (MOFGA) and Southern Exposure (Seed Pledge Initiative). Good experiences with: Baker Creek Heirloom Seed, Sustainable Seed Company (taken over by True Leaf Market have no experience there).

Best to find a seed company that aligns with your principles and is also in your general region so that you know the seeds will grow well under your conditions.

Cultivating the Commons is a small operation near me so their seeds would be cold hardy enough.

Joseph Lofthouse's seeds are terrific and you can find them at a number of places.  He's in northern Utah so not terribly different from Missoula.  Joseph's seeds
