Interesting!!
Can plants hear their pollinators?

Research suggests pollinator buzzing sounds lead plants to increase their nectar production.

That's WAY COOL. Makes sense to me, I think plants are wiser than they are given credit for.

Hmm, so are we talking about foreplay here? Do these kids even know each other? Would their parents approve?

I don't feel that plants can hear.  They do in my opinion feel vibration from the wings of pollinators.

Same as when folks talk to their plants.  They sense the vibration from you voice and the tone.

Where do you draw the line between “hearing” and “sensing vibration”?

Many plants are sensitive to touch - that would be the line I'd expect to draw, since (as far as bio-science has found so far) plants don't have ears.

Have you seen the viral videos of people asking trees to touch their faces with their leaves.

Do pollinators have ears?  Without ears is it possible to hear?

Hearing is just sensing vibration at specific frequencies. You can feel sounds through your skin if loud enough.

It makes sense for a plant to lure specific types of pollinators and not waste energy on making nectar all the time or attract pests.

We can fix it! We just need some baling wire, some WD-40, a bit of duct tape and this tiny ad:
