I don't doubt his experience, but there is a tradeoff in using salvaged materials in safety for costs. Look at
8:30 where he explicitly mentions toxins, unless I interpreted his language incorrectly. There is no way for me to visually determine whether old paint contains lead or not prior to processing (sanding, cutting, etc). Also research asbestos building materials prior to the ban. Laminates, insulation and flooring are of high interests with that regard.
