the Great American Farm Tour

Y'all TOTALLY helped me crush my 1st Kickstarter for my film, "Permaculture Chickens"

That was a little more than two years ago, and I'M BACK!

This time, my family of SIX has converted an old school but into RV so that we can travel America featuring THE greatest sustainable yards, homesteads and market farms.

Paul Wheaton is on the list of folks to see.

So is Curtis Stone, Rob Avis, Diego Footer, Jack Spirko, Greg Judy, Dan Ohmann and on and on and on...

We'll be creating YouTube Videos every single day of the adventure and uploading them to my channel.  

But, we're also creating a feature length documentary film after we're finished.

The documentary will be something you can touch (physical DVD's of the film, T-shirts and Mugs available).

You can watch the documentary in one evening, and you'll see interviews (from us and the farmers we visit) that won't be on YouTube.

Why Kickstarter?

To do all this filming and uploading I'm gonna have to have reliable mobile power and consistent internet access. This can be expensive, but I know the publicity this project will generate will be a HUGE step forward in the regenerative lifestyle movement.

Gonna be a sweet thing all around. Missed the live chat last night due to dinner with the family, but I did jump on the Kickstarter as soon as I got home. Looking forward to the movie next year. I will still be following you on Youtube, of course!

Justin, I'm an avid old school still shooter, so take this with a grain of Tri-X. I once assisted a top videographer who made his career as Bill Clinton's side-kick. His main take-away was "Lock the camera down! Not every frame needs to contain motion. And, it becomes a big event when you notice a single branch moving in the background, a flock of geese passing through, a sincere smile on your subject's face at the end of a scene..."

BTW, I never watched TV, or shot a single video after the Summer of '96. One endearing quality I think everyone experiences through your work is the natural way you share in those intimate family moments. Still, I'm missing the close-ups of mom working with the kids, pulling off their muddy shoes, making the chicken soup, introducing various topics before venturing into the field and finally, carrying her own damn camera as opposed to just trailing along.

All up, it's a delightful show, and I believe everyone who's contributed has already received more than their money's worth!

What an awesome Kickstarter campaign - congrats for knocking it out of the park!

hey justin! i plan on giving to the kickstarter soon. Thanks for all you have shared through youtube, podcast ect.. if your trip comes through Pittsburgh, we have a small scale urban homestead, micro csa and sell to a few local juice bars and cafes. We have two extra bedrooms if you would like to crash for a night or two. Cheers, good luck!

Heading south to visit with the guys at Sturdy Brothers, they make leather aprons and other hand made leather work. Then on into Florida to visit Full Circle Farm and a young lady making farm income with her chickens! Also forest pastured pigs.

Still at Full circle farms. Goats, Cattle, Pigs, and Chickens all in a rotational, holistic grazing set up !

Two great, Florida Food Forests ! One is a home garden on 1/4 acre the other at a university.

Echo Farms Florida, Experimental food forests that recreate 4 tropical ecosystems.

An interesting community in Florida where college students live in a simulated 3rd world village at H.E.A.R.T. village. Five weeks with out electricity gives them a crash course in what it might be like while living in desolate areas overseas. They also learn simple appropriate technologies to help the people they will visit.
