This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Community.

In this Badge Bit, you will start a club!

How to Start an Awesome Club

This BB has a point range from 2 to 12 points:
 - 5 people = 2 points
 - 2 points for every additional person, maximum of 12 points
 - Points based on poorest attended of the four meetings

The minimum requirements for this BB are:
 - start a club
 - At least 4 meetings
 - Minimum of 4 unrelated members at each meeting
 - Meetings can’t be at a business

To document this Badge Bit, provide proof of the following as pictures or a video (<2 mins):
- organizing the club and conducting outreach about the club
- people at each of the four or more club meetings

Is it necessary to do ALL the organizing in order to get this Bb? I’ve recently been part of starting a community orchestra, am part of the organizing group and also the conductor, but it’s a group effort.

That's how I read the requirements.  I think this is aimed at a smaller club than a whole orchestra.  Maybe a mushroom hunting club or a cross country skiing club...

Ok, that’s a pity.

I’ve started / helped to start multiple groups over the last 40 years, and in my experience the ones that have lasted, built the most community connections, and done the most good have been the ones where I was part of an organising group, not the ones where I got excited about something (which I do on the regular 😀) and started a group on my own.

I think I'm ready to submit for this BB.  I started a Homesteading Club back in the late 2010's.  To find people initially I reserved a booth at a local Earth Day fair.  With construction paper cutouts on the wall that said things like Maple Syrup, Gardening, Barter, etc it attracted attention and got a bunch of email addresses.  In about 5 years we've grown to have a bit over 200 people on the email list.  We meet monthly and do tours and events when the opportunity presents itself.  Here's some outreach I did about the club:  WXPR interview

Note: Approved for 12 points, though I only count 10 in your lowest attendance, that's still (first 5 people) 2 + (5 more people x 2 each) 10 = 12

This summer, I started a SKIP scouts club!

We met several times and earned BBs for 14 different kids. Summer attendance for any group is hit or miss, but we got 10 people to the following four meetings!

I put a feeler out to my community. And many moms were interested. Eventually, we got a handful of families SKIP books and started in June. Since it was summer, we were able to gather at the fairgrounds (outside) which was free! We met most weeks, for 3 hours, til the end of August. Kids are asking if I will keep up the club next summer. Who knows!

I put 10 smiley face stickers on each of the 10 attendees (some meetings had more than 10) but all four of the required meetings pictured here had at least 10 participants.
To see more about our skip club, check out my thread.

Thank you! The stiches picture actually didnt have me in it. I was holding the camera. This was another adult helper who came over to read a story to the kiddos while I prepped. I'm happy to share the original picture, to show there were 10 kids, one adult helper, and me holding the camera.  I would appreciate the other 2 points

Oh, you're the best! I'll remove the photo now. But can reproduce it at request.
