each reward is currently accurate

For reasons.

And I tried to make the $250 level extra, extra sweet.   I kinda feel like the $250 level would be the most popular reward right now if it was offered at the very beginning.

You might actually mention that in an update, on kickstarter, about each reward is currently what is listed so people should look at the new options to see if they want to change their current pledge. That might help get more last minute changes to be more. Was why I went up from $200 to $250 that deal just got sweeter.

To me it seems like $200 is the sweet spot for anyone who isn't ready to work on a design and just wants as much info as possible on permaculture.

The $250 option and above are more for people who are ready to start implementing (or so it seems to me).  I do wish though that the 200 would have 720p as an option.

Here is the update I am sending out right now to the current kickstarter supporters:

Two more stretch goals!

We are coming up on the 24 hour mark and we have blown past the $65,000 stretch goal and the $70,000 stretch goal!

I think the true goal of the kickstarter has now shifted. It was just to make video. But now it is something more of a "do a PDC at home, including getting your designs critiqued." Pay special attention to the $250 and higher reward levels.

$75,000 stretch goal

make a drone video of basecamp before the pdc starts. This will be an edited video and made available to all supporters at $75 and higher. But since all designs will be about basecamp, this will help with people trying to understand how to make a design as well as people trying to understand the designs they see. This will be of especially great value to the people that will be doing designs online after the PDC ($250 reward level)

$80,000 stretch goal

For the people that support at the $250 and higher reward levels, they make a design and it gets reviewed in a conference call with me (paul wheaton, the obnoxious giant) and other students. If we reach this stretch goal, I will arrange for two additional permaculture instructors to be part of those conference calls.

description is overloaded!

We have overloaded the kickstarter page and it won't allow us to add any more text to the description to include these new stretch goals. We hope to sneak this information in as images a little bit later today. But with so little time left, I felt I couldn't wait for images to be made. So these are the official new stretch goals, and this information does officially appear on the kickstarter "updates" page.

Click on the thumbs up for this post if ....

You like the idea of doing the "DESIGN" reward and then shelling out $300 to come to a 3-day "hybrid PDC" here.   You do some hands on, do some more design, do talent night and get the official PDC certificate.

It just occurred to me that the added rewards and goals seem to be a bit light on the ATC side...  It may too late to do much about it since there's only 27 hours to go. By the way, way back when I mentioned using a quadcopter I was thinking more the "before" and "after" aerial shots and possibly aerials taken during the tour, but not necessarily for the live stream of the classes/activities. You could do "before" shots several days or a couple of weeks before and "after" shots of things that are staying on site a day or 2 after. That also gives you some flexibility on when to run the quad if the weather is rough. Still shots of the layout of some things from overhead may or may not be beneficial too. Basically, it could be an enhancement, not the main course.

So, I supported at the $200 level before the $250 DESIGN was available.  If I send another $50, can I get the Design deal?  Will Kickstarter do that automatically?

I'm super excited about this whole endeavor!

Thanks, that worked!

I'm a little bummed that the Rocket Mass DVDs have been removed!  Was this by design?

Wait what do you mean?  They're still part of the $200 pledge, which I believe is part of the $250.  (They're the reason I went with the 200)

Never mind.  It pulled the $200 out and sent it to the top of the page.  My apologies! I'm a Kickstarter newb.

Paul, congratulations on another amazing kickstarter!

As I prepare to commit, I have two clarification requests... first question is important in my decision of funding level... second question is simply curiosity:

1. If supporting at DESIGN level and $80k level is met, so design review happens with you and two other instructors... then does that design presentation + review get the participant the PDC certificate? (My permaculture infected teenage daughter looks forward to spending four weeks virtually with you and reaaallly hopes she can get a PDC certificate in the process.)

2. I already have the eight RMH videos from prior kickstarter. If supporting at DESIGN level (which includes another copy of those RMH videos) can I gift them to someone else?

Thanks!

As I write this, there are 14 hours left and you have 925 backers.  (AMAZING!  AWESOME!!)

I think you should have a stretch goal for 1000 backers, regardless of the total $.  Something to inspire folks to recruit someone for just $1 or $5.  (Infecting more brains, doncha know.)

For this, it need not be valuable, just something that people want.  Like, a video of Paul reading Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel.  OK, maybe that's just me.  Paul, would you sing?  Singing is popular.

Hey folks, what would inspire you to email your friends and get them to pledge at $1?

Tee-hee, it looks like you're going to have to make more stretch goals. You're only $217 away from $80,000!

EDIT: Never mind, you made it to $80,000 before I was even done posting!!!

Hmm, maybe a kid-friendly version (with little beeps or rocket sounds or hilarious words or "poop" in place of the swearing). The only time I have to watch things is when my 3 year old and 6 month old are around, and so there's no way I could ever get to watch the delicious, nutritious PDC that's topped with flavorful language. I'm probably not the only one! I'd love to be able to learn all this amazing knowledge and share it with my son...without having to worry about him using the f word in Sunday School :O. Homeschoolers might also really appreciate it!

Edit: I just realized how much of a pain in the rear that would be to go over all those hours of tape and replace the flavorful words. Um, yeah   As much as I love my idea, it's probably improbable! I think Julia's idea for hearing Paul read Mike Mulligan is a whole lot easier--and would be really cool, too! I love Mike Mulligan and the Steam Shovel!

I think a great question right now would be:  how could we have reached you sooner?

Hi Paul,
Actually you have been slowly reaching me for a while.  I have been infecting my brain with your podcasts, watching the ant village, and wanting to come up to Montana to visit the lab but the time has never been right to commit and I won't be a "Flake" by trying to commit to something but not being able to follow through. So I have been watching from afar, slowly making changes to my light bulbs, my lawn care, how I hatch and raise chickens, and waiting for the time when I could make bigger changes.

I couldn't get away from work for this PDC and then this kickstarter showed and I decided that this was the time jump. The $200 bundle had so many items I have been wanting to get so I started there.  But after the $250 design package came out I didn't see how I could miss out on that opportunity.

So thank you for this opportunity to continue learning and for me to get further along "The wheaton eco scale".

Best Regards,
Aaron

Wow.  That's a bit surreal.

Had to go into town yesterday to get Tim Barker from the airport.   We took the 12 passenger van because Tim will have luggage and we need to pick up a bunch of stuff for the event.   Plus the van needed and oil change and stuff - good to have everything in good working order during the event.  The van broke down.  Isn't it grand to be in an era of cell phones?  So we rented a van while ours is towed to the shop.   Only ......    car rental hell ...  so awful that I don't even want begin to get into it here.

So now I am home, have gotten some sleep, dealt with the dramas while I was away,  check in and ....   WOW!  We blew right past both of those stretch goals.   Where are all these people coming from?   I feel a bit like George Bailey!

Five hours left.  I guess we need to fire up that drone of mine!     And it looks like this summer I will have 13 students whose designs I will review.

I will now try to catch up on all the stuff in this thread ....

Nope.  It is entirely for educational purposes.

We are contemplating the idea that people that make it that far, we offer them a three day event here where they would do more design, some hands on stuff, present their design to the group and then do talent night and receive the certificate.   But I suspect that somebody like your daughter would prefer to do the full pdc next year.

Nope.  We will doling it all out as one gob.   You cannot remove those pieces.

I wasn't planning on recording the chatty corner.  I thought it would just be a simple live feed

Already things are in a crazy scramble, made even more difficult by daniel not arriving until tomorrow or friday.

My official answer has to be "don't count on it."   If it does end up being recorded, we probably won't be putting it anywhere until late july or maybe even august.

I thought the ten spots for "goofballs" would fill up quickly.  I think it is a pretty fun graphic.

I suspect tracy will come up with something fun for just one person.

Just wanna say I love the graphics that have been coming out for some little while now.  Thanks, Tracy!  I didn't know who the artist was.

I don't think the "goofballs" level was hampered by the graphic--it's great.  I thought the bloggers, youtubers, etc would fill it--i.e. those who do business under their own name, and could call it an advertising expense.  But I guess those people didn't have the ready coin?
