The Library at Wheaton Labs' Basecamp serves multiple functions within the community. To make it clearer what The Library is, I made a sign for The Library, and I burned a little book in the sign to try to be a little artistic.

For starters, The Library contains the backup pantry, where food supplies beyond what the Fisher Price House can hold are housed.

The Library also functions as an area where books and games are housed for the community to use. There are also desks and sofas for people to read, relax, or work at. On one of the before the sofa is where people receive mail.

Outside The Library, Gert, Ferd, and the kittens live by the cat houses, and on another side of the Library is a rack for storing firewood.

At the end of The Library where the firewood racks are is the Garage, and that is where recycling, The Free Shelf, and the firewood splitting station are.

I was trying to get the library situated... It sounds like it and the garage are a free-standing building near the Fisher Price House?   Is the gap between them where there are many pic of outdoor meals?  Is that the same place that the Boots built a patio around the end of the summer?

Then I remembered about this beautiful cartoon map, and I think I can place it.  I hope it will work out that I can visit someday.

This is a still from DVD 4 of "better wood heat" and we are trying to describe "the manifold".  It was recorded in the library in the fall of 2014.

Last year we had a bizarre snowstorm that made us seek indoor projects for a full month.   Lots of new shelves!

Here are picks from Chris' bootcamp thread

And some from robbie's bootcamp thread:

And one from akhu's bootcamp thread:

We need to rework our needs for desk space.  We decided to go with three permanent desks - one for fred, one for josiah and a spare.  Plus a really long desk that can facilitate a lot of people that put their stuff away afterward.  The long desk should facilitate six people easily and we can get 12 people around it for a meeting or something.   We're gonna call the big desk "the dock" which might become apparent in the days or weeks to come.

here are some pics from clayton's bootcamp thread:

here is a bit of video from josiah's bootcamp thread:

Just a thought, but is the library at Wheaton Labs catalogued? I'm just thinking if people wanted to send Permaculture related books to a good home they could check whether you already had a copy before sending them to you.

That's a nice feature! I love all the storage pigeon holes - makes use of dead space above the desk/table and makes it useful. As long as no-one can bang their head on it!
