Title says it all. I'm looking for acorns from white oak species for the purpose of direct seeding them in the ground. Acorns don't store quite well so if you can collect them fresh before sending them that would be ideal. Valid species of oak include Quercus macrocarpa, Quercus douglasii, Quercus lobata - other white oak species are also good too! Bonus points if you get them from trees that are naturalized to a coastal environment (zone 10a-10b).

Send me a PM or reply if you have access to such acorns!

My property is covered with Quercus garryana, Oregon white oak. I could easily send you acorns in the fall.

That would be excellent, Stacy! I'll send you a message in the fall.

Bumping this thread since it's the season for acorns. I got the Quercus garryana from Stacy (thanks for that). If anyone has access to another Quercus species that is naturalized to a Pacific coastal environment, I'm interested in buying some. Trying to up the genetic diversity!

I could probably get you some Quercus macrocarpa - Bur Oak. I'm out East though so it would be from New Jersey. Not sure if that's acceptable / ethical?

I don't think it would be unethical, but I also don't think it would be a good idea. Thanks anyways!

No worries - good luck with your hunt.

BTW - you can use iNaturalist to find confirmed sightings of the trees you are looking for. For example Valley Oak Quercus lobata. You can drill in on the map and find trees local to you. Just a thought incase your hunt here is unfruitful.
