Hi all ;
Welcome to summer 2022!
I know some are having brutal weather already...
Here in the inland NW (so far) it could not be better!
Lets hope it evens out and we all get good weather this summer.
Happy gardening and don't forget to start building your RMH now before its winter!

And for those of us on the downside of the world: happy winter!
Here in southern Brazil we aired out our woolies over a month ago when unseasonable frosts came, they say it's going to be a dry and cold winter.
Buckle up, capture all the rainwater, and off we go!

My head was singing this out in the garden today:

Good morning starshine, The earth says "hello"
You twinkle above us, We twinkle below
Good morning starshine, You lead us along
My love and me as we sing, Our early morning singing song

Gliddy glup gloopy
Nibby nabby noopy la la la lo lo
Sabba sibby sabba
Nooby abba nabba le le lo lo
Tooby ooby walla nooby abba nabba
Early morning singing song

and while I was attempting to constrain the walking onions  I was singing "these roots were made for walking, and that's just what they'll do!"
:D

Happy longest day of the year! Hope y'all have dirt under your nails   :D

In preparation for today, yesterday I planted a bunch of bean seeds. Direct seeding often doesn't work for me, but I'm giving it a try. There are a bunch of seeds I need to start on the off-chance that the weather will cooperate, but I admit that with our exceptionally wet spring that's got what little I planted looking at me as if I'm crazy, it's been hard!

I hope everyone has a wonderful first day of summer!

YAAAY!! I'm so READY!! Even as hot as it's already been, I'm so down with lounging in one of my hammocks (yeh - I have a few, lol) in the shade, Charlie(my little cavalier) in my lap smiling and, (unfortunately) drooling on me, a cold glass of herbal tea or beer in one hand, and a good book, in the other, Mimosa blossoms tickling my senses... yup. I could 'summer', year 'round!

Today my daughter informed me that it will be 80°F this weekend. I'm sad because we just kind of skipped over my favorite spring weather. 50°F and then jump to 80°F! 😢 I feel cheated out of my spring!

But...

Focus on the bright side! My berries will start ripening. The figs will start ripening. I can finally plant beans and they won't rot. My corn will have a chance. Hopefully my squash will take off and not be stunted. Maybe I'll get some tomatoes by August.
