I'm looking for some good youtube channels for yoga or other gentle exercises that I can do at home.  Hopefully something that will start at the absolute beginning but not get boring as my skill increases.

Things and stuff and it's complicated.  But I finally got the Dr's okay to start doing stretches and light exercise.  I just get frustrated trying to find a good youtube to guide me at home.   I would prefer one that keeps the chaff at the start and end of the session, not while I'm trying to hold the pose.  Any suggestions?

I'm a big fan of Shi Heng Yi of Shaolin Temple Europe ...he offers some excellent Qigong vids (similar to tia chi),

Here are a couple of good introductory sessions that I find are great for stretching & balance work and simply 'feel good'.

This is another good beginner vid, maybe start with her and see how it feels:

You may enjoy yoga with Adriene. She starts out here with this 10 minute video for complete beginners. There is also a 20 minute beginners video. She's been around for years, and for YouTube yoga exercises I think she's pretty good, offering moderate and advanced yoga exercises and stretches as one progresses.

Since the covid lockdowns I have been a big fan of Five Parks Yoga with Erin. Very nice. Definitely my favorite online yoga classes.

I second the recommendation for the Yoga with Adrienne channel on Youtube. My absolute favorite yoga lessons!

Here is a good place to start with Tai Chi:

There are many more videos in this channel. I have one of the DVDs that is also quite good.

Feldenkrais with Taro - He has mostly very short, body-part-specific exercises to improve hips, shoulders, neck, jaw, etc. Also series on balance, posture, breathing. How to get up from the floor - useful. He's very gentle and compassionate.

Well if you don't have enough youtube links yet, I'm new to tai chi and have enjoyed this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwlvTcWR3Gs&list=WL&index=5.
There's two other useful videos on that channel about self-massage.

This is an oldie that I pulled up to rehab after a hip replacement.   Don't let the title put you off.   It's a workout that keeps the chaff at the beginning and end, can increase or decrease in challenge according to the need of the day, and has seen me through back surgery,  chronic health issues, and this recent hip replacement.

I enjoy Lesley Fightmaster's YouTube channel and she has two playlists for beginners:

She has a wide variety of videos from gentle meditations to vigorous, difficult poses.

Here are two great resources for free, streaming Feldenkrais lessons with no chaff at all (audio only, no video).

Congratulations on getting better and best wishes for continued strengthening.

I am recovering from an illness and use some Tai Chi and Qigong to help regain muscle tone, stamina, improved circulation, and lung capacity.  I use a portion of this video

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bcpelNJTDbY

as a warm up. Begin at 11:40 into the video and warm up through 23:29. This is a gentle warm up from neck to ankle that is good before doing any kind of routine.

If you sit and listen to the beginning up to 11:40 once, he gives insight to the benefits of the slow, calculated Tai chi movements.

After my warm up, I will do a routine with a variety of other videos, and I rotate them on different days so my body gets little stretches in new places to help make me stronger, and so I don’t get bored.

Here are two I have enjoyed especially those first days after convalescence:

Tai Chi

Qigong

Hi.

I follow the 'Move with Nicole' YouTube chanel. It's Yoga-Pilates, though.

There are enough videos to find whatever suits you more that day. From 20 to 60 minutes. From 'flowing' (a routine good for starting up early morning), to 'basic', to 'intermediate', which I find hard enough. Mostly without equipment. There are also full-body, specific part buildings, stretching and cardio routines.

Nice voice, nice routines, it's very fluid.

Personally, I would start with yoga for many years first to gain the flexibility you need to do Taijiquan properly...

I mean, just to simply have a good standing posture requires good flexibility.

Just checking in to see how you are doing? How is your recovery going? Did you find some stretches that meet your needs? I hope things are going well for you.

Hi permies,

you mentioned: "got the Dr's okay to start doing stretches and light exercise". This has me wondering what your age and body conditions are.
A good place to start learning safe strategies for body development can be found here in Ben's youtube channel TheKneesOverToesGuy @ https://www.youtube.com/c/TheKneesovertoesguy.
