Hi,
I am looking for 1 or 2 photos of some well designed urban backyard (or frontyard) with a description of what's in there and maybe a bit of history of the place
for a Urban permaculture course that I'll be teaching shortly. Ideally, climate-wise, photos of a mediterranean yard would be great but any temperate
climate yard would do.

Also, the ideal photos would have not just plants but other interconnected elements
Would anyone be willing to share theirs? Credit to authors will be included in the presentation of course.
Cheers

Since you are looking for urban homesteads, what kind of animals are you looking for?  Just chickens or others?

I am trying to show how productive a small urban home can be, so any types of yelds, including animals (small I guess, since I am concerned with urban projects) of any type are welcome, as well as structures
Thank you

I have some photos of projects in process or individual elements (like a very productive herb spiral next to some perennial plants)  of my urban place, but it sounds like you are looking for overall full design photos?   That I can't help much with, but if you need specific individual elements I might be able to contribute something.   My place is pretty new and still under development bit by bit.

Hi Heather, why not! Although I am looking for photos of a developed place, please if you don't mind show me what you think are good systems of yours. I may end up creating a collage afterall
Cheers

I started a similar thread a couple of years ago. It’s a good place to start.

Well, not really but am glad you offered what you have! However the change from the initial situation is impressive. Good work!

Trying to think of my urban yard in "zones" and "systems" on a small scale.  I DO have rain barrels, outdoor rabbits, composting area,  assorted growing areas with some as annual crops,  some as more surrounding growing areas of tree/shrub perimeters, and some as polyculture "islands."   Along with 2 sheds, an outdoor picnic table, herb spiral, and outdoor clothes line.  Most things have extra functions (my clothesline posts support climbing vines,  my picnic table is also a grilling area and holds my solar dehydrator,  and becomes a work table as needed for projects or sowing seeds.   I've never mapped it out specifically, more like intuitively placed things where they make the most sense for access and/or shelter and/or privacy,  or for most used space.  I do have more open "lawn" than what might be permaculture accepted but I have big dogs in the city that NEED running and exercise space that isn't dirt.   Even the "lawn" is productive though..  it's overseeded with clover as well as mixed with violets, dandelion, and other goodies that I harvest daily for rabbit food.   There's nothing to show in the way of berms, swales, or landworks type overall permaculture "full design" plans.

Bravo! I think people often forget that Permaculture is productive, regenerative, whole-systems-design based on optimizing the unique needs of each particular user/designer--and since you have designed a "life system" that includes big dogs that need exercise, your Permaculture design needs that great lawn. So Permaculture approves of it! 😁

Not my garden, but I was impressed by Luke Perkins' before and after pictures of his crater garden in a suburban San Francisco Bay area:

I'd love to see some updated photos, since these were taken a few years ago now.
